Hi all, Im new too the forum so if im posting in the wrong section please move this mods.
Anyway i wanted to know if it was feasible to drop a 6spd manual into a 1999(WH i think) statesman LS1?
Has anyone done this? is there a sticky?
Want too know...
Gearbox price? And if it will bolt up?
Clutch/pedalbox price and bolt up?
Clutch cable?
And will i have to change the computer as its MAFless already but obviously for auto?
Or am i just wasting my time?
The reason i ask is im after a vx ss m6 that i can do all the regular mods too myself, but i just found this statey all modded beyond what i would do for a very good price but i definately want a manual so figure with the money i save modding it i could convert it!
Any and all info appreciated thanks.

Too much work, years ago there was a silver grange in street commodores built by Starr that was converted to a manual, had a whippled stroker in it.

Certainly do able. Parts not cheap though, but if you do most of it yourself won't be too bad. To answer is it worth it, what is??

Very do-able - at a price.
How bad do you want the statesman?
How bad do you want the manual?
From memory Holmart were advertising new 6spds for just shy of $3K, could probably be had cheaper second hand - if you can find one.
Then there's the clutch. Performance clutch will set you back $1450 for a decent one (give or take)
You'd need to check the tailshafts for length and spline.
Gotta allow for clutch pedal and master cylinder. (They're hydraulic so no cable)
Pedal should be the same as that out of a VT or VX, however the WH may not have the hole in the firewall to accept it which = more buggarising round.
The computer will probably need something changed, but best to speak to a tuner about that. Delco (Dan) from Chipmaster can tell you. might pay to fire him off a quick PM as he did some of (or most of - i forget) the conversion for Cashie (forum member)
In my honest opinion, and i know MarkOne2 and Voodoo will probably disagree with me here, but statesmans aren't the most sporting of vehicles. It can take a lot of mumbo to get them rolling quick.
But hey, if thats what ya want, i say go for it! :D
good luck!

Cheers for the replys lads!
looking like it may be more trouble and $$$ than its worth!
I'll keep looking for ss with M6.
Mungrel this statey is advertised as 340kw whether at the wheels or flywheel thats still respectable!!! and hes only after $18000 for it.
thats why it looked like a goer, but no manual not interested

Probably at the flywheel, reason being, typically if its rwkw, people make a big deal about that come sale time. In reality, 340kw at the engine isn't a difficult thing to get these days, its basically a small cam, intake, exhaust and tune.

Easy job, and with all the gear and parts could be done in a day.
I have heard of conversion kits being sold for around $3K mark with everything needed.
You will need to get a manual tune flashed into the PCM.
maybe PM Cobalt and he may be able to offer some more assistance.
