Been a very hectic time getting cars ready for Motovation this year , we had in excess of 30 car to get sorted in the lead up to the event , especially since the headline car we had been getting ready for the event - the 1200hp GTO wasnt going to able to make the treck from Kalgoolie due to work commitments.

Next in line powerwise was the old XH ute that runs a 347 windsor but that we had converted to Holden fuel injection years ago to go blown , it was decided that this car would step up again this year at the last moment a week before the show to see how far i coudl be pushed , SQP sorted out a new cam combo , Mark from MWS screwed it all together and upped the anti on the blower and the intercooler ( these are street cars so no dry ice or one shot specials on these puppies ) and I modified the system to enable the Holden ECU to go to 3 bar as we where expecting to see 20 psi on this combo.

During testing we found we had maxed the airflow of the V7 so we couldnt screw anymore than 20 psi into the motor so had to then extract every last hp out of the combo if we were going to make some serious numbers.

A few frantic days of tuning and we had eclipsed the 900 hp mark fairly easily seeing a best of 960 rwhp with no temp correction ( IT and AT the same as ambient ) on normal fuel

Best on the day was only 914hp though as it kept spinning the tyres at the top end so we where 20kph away from where we would normally rev it to , and posiibly the higher barometric pressure was showing the inefficiencys of the blower earlier.

There where some huge IAT discrepancys on some of the cars I saw run , up to 60 deg in some cases but we specifically asked the dyno operator to keep the IAT probe out of the engine bay in from of the car to get accurate results.

It was enough though to take out Motovation HP hero this year as well as top supercharged.

Next in line was a 402 CV8Z , this car was also stepped up for motivation as far as we felt safe on the std LS2 block and 10 rib belt system on the car runnign 15 psi of boost in its full street trim on pump fuel to take out 2nd place with 894hp

Next in line and third was a VE GTS , again with a mild street 402 and a t trim blower running on pump juice as well to score a 756hp run.

Followed by whippled , another SQP 402 but with a whipple this time to get to 671 hp

http://chipmaster.com.au/Motorvation08/whippled2.JPG

And the only other car we were able to run up due to the VERY limited spaces on the dyno was Marks own HZ with a 402 and a strim Vortech combo for 611 hp.

We had setup and intended to run all 20+ of the cars we setup for display but unfortunately that wasnt possible so here are some pics of cars we tuned for motivation

Spots on the dyno were limited , the CV8Z disputed was meant to go back on as it was going to make well over 900 hp when strapped properly but there wasnt time available , they only gave us 5 spots so some unhappy owners

some insane cars there dan....well done to John @ SQP, Mark @ MWS and yourself on a simply jaw dropping stand

it was the BIGGEST stand for any WA workshop with a mix of Holdens, Fords and some oldies thrown in

and to come away with some trophies is always a bonus but the smile on the owners face everytime they jump in there cars is all the satisfaction they require :bravo:

Bills SV300 (BLOWN 300) is definately a favourite of mine since i saw it years ago at the Holden & Ford show...:drool::drool:

Congratulations. It was a very nice line up at MV and was great to see these cars on display. Would have been good to see some of them go down the track. :) Daniel, your car was sounding as mean as ever out on the track and was good to see it out there.

Can't wait to visit the third shop in the group.

John was very good about it and I had a new set within a couple of hours thanks to Shane (saj) and Craig (BruteSS). Thanks heaps guys.

Any further comment on this should be in my snapped axle thread I suppose. Don't want to wreck Daniels thread of fine machine's.

Nick--nick without taking dan's thread off topic as it has been done death before...
In WA a supercharger can be MOD PLATED and approved legally...turbos cant but in the process by others.

ppl still turbo cars but there are insurance, public liability, police, licensing, etc issues

The ute is a beut , originally running a tough as blown injected 304 , it got transfomed this year with a SQP 402 , six speed and blower , combined with tubular suspension rack and pinion steering and a custom 4 link 9" rear end , 6 spot brakes all integrated to be a true street weapon. the only part of the car that hasnt been changed for years is the body which is and was smick

I love the sidepipes , sweet as on the dyno belching flames on the overrun

The only change any of these cars went through for transformation from weekend street cars to dyno/show was the installtion of trumpets for the intake , the way they performed on the dyno was exactly the way they are driven , no spedcial hop up fuels or ice intercoolers jsut good old honest street power.

Made me a little humbled that my car is a wimp in comparison to some of these cars these days in the hp stakes , things have moved so fast in the last 3/4 years , may be time for a freshen up

you are the first to break them Lewis! Sold over 10 sets so far.

Anyhow back to Sam's Performance (who gets the axles made that I sell over here for him) to rework it again if it isn't a localised incident. We will be monitoring Lewis' very closely.....

amazing how quick the crabs come running in....most don't have the beans to break std axles............:jester:

Amazing John. This is the first set to break and there are over 100 sets out there at least including plenty of 10 sec cars running decent slicks! And to break at 50km sounds very strange. Send the back and we will investigate why? Sorry for any inconvenience Kpwishn. but good to see john get it running again.

Haha. I'll drop the said axles off to you when I'm back in town John. I think the cv's are next. They are clunking very badly. :eyes:

I have to start saving. I want a V7 YSI where the big gap is on the right hand side of my engine bay.

http://chipmaster.com.au/Motorvation08/mark%20ve1.JPG

priddy7

I had a look at the badge at MV and it looks like mark made it him self by clipping off the holden badge and cutting a round piece of metal and painting it black and sticking a chev badge on . he has done a good job and its a good idea it a lot better than the aftermarket ones you can buy...You put the aftermarket ones on and they look a vz front end not a ve ..I put the aftermarket one one my VE and I Hate it going to something like mark has done.
