HOW big can you go with a stroker and stay LEGAL ??
i know with my hilux 4x4 truck 308 was the legal limit in the year 2000 and 253 before that !
the reason i ask is what do you tell RTA on the new engine no form
AS little as possible i guess :)

They'll never be able to look inside the engine to work it out :)

As far as they are able to tell a 5.0L or 308 block is exactly that, wether its stroked to 330, 355, 383 they wont know unless you adertise it! :)

i would assume anything bar a stock motor would technically be illegal as its got to pass what ever emmissions that model came out with. so any mods would kinda make it fall through. just put a 480 lsx motor in ur camaro ur buying bob an dont tell anyone. unless they pull it apart measure the pistons an stroke an so forth, eh there not gunna know

Red,

Rules probably differ for each state but you can find NSW RTA's here:

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi_06_-_guidelines_for_light_vehicle_modifications_nov_20 07.pdf

For N/A cars it is tare mass (kg) * 0.294 (for cubic inches)

For FI cars it is tare mass (kg) * 0.244 (for cubix inches)

So fo a VE Commodore weighing about 1800kg you could go to about 529ci n/a or 438ci for F/I!

Red Maloo R8, HOWQUICK will be able to do it. He's a long arse way from Cairns though.

The more cubes the better. If your that worried about what the authorities think you'll never build one. As Brett said "just do it". lol

NO mate no that worried about legality i was just interested
when i put the stroker in the hilux in 2000 it had just be come legal for 308 as 253 was it be for that
so was just a question but 529 is probably enough :)
