gday fellas, just a quick qsn for any1 that has sprayed their engine covers, my gf's brother is an airbush artist and he wants to spray a design on the cover but we arnt sure what paint to use..we are thinking about sanding it back and sprayin it the same colour as my car and then doing a tribal pattern over the top. but as i said cant go ahead until we know what paint to buy as i dont want it to chip and look bad!

is there a special kind of paint for this job? does it need to be heatproof due to a hot engine?..any advice (or pictures of what you have done) would be fantastic

cheers guys

As far as I know, you don't need to use special paint.

Mine have just been resprayed in the same colour as the car. Previously they were in silver using normal paint and the paint didn't appear to suffer from any heat effects.

I could be wrong, I have been before and will be again but the normal paint worked for me :)
