View Full Version : Prices in Canberra compared to elswhere...
OK...
So here's what's on my list (in the short term):
Cold Air Intake
Full Exhaust
Tune (not MAFless)
Here's the prices I got from Gen-Tech in Canberra.
Cold Air Intake: $685 (+ fitting)
Full dual 3 inch exhaust, high flow cats, ceramic coated Pacemakers: $5,300
Tune (LS1 edit they call it): $1,500
Total: $7,485 +
Is there a Canberra tax in there? Happy to head to Sydney and get it done cheaper.
I'll also want to upgrade the clutch at some point...

Take the drive to Perth , might even pay for the fuel :)
Cold Air Intake: $495 fitted for the Pod , $695 fitted for the OTR
Full dual 3 inch exhaust, high flow cats, ceramic coated Pacemakers: $4800
Tune (maf ): $800 or mafless $1000
Sure it would be similar at other places like Sydney
Have a talk to gentech and see if you get a forum discount ?
I'm in Perth and was worried that the 5000-6000 I'll (probably) be paying for the same mods might've been a bit steep. I sure as hell wouldn't be paying 7500+.

Gday Chris.
That price is for a full DiFilippo system. They are DiFilippo headers coated, DiFilippo 3" cats and DiFilippo dual 3" stainless cat back system. The pacemakers are cheaper so we could get those instead, but we highly recommend the full DiFilippo system. We are happy for you to shop around, that's part of life. All we can ask is that you compare apples vs apples and talk to us if you think there are discrepancies. In general if you package products there is some discounts available (ie free fitting for intake etc). Also our tunes (LS2 Edit as we call it due to it historically being known as that and the fact when we say HPTuners/EFI Live most look bewildered) for VE are $1250 so that might have been a misunderstanding.
There are cheaper options available than the DiFilippo system, but in general you get what you pay for. As for the Canberra tax, who knows, from some figures I heard, it seemed there was a workshop somewhere retailing a product for less than our trade price.
Cheers.

Yeah thanks mate... Cleared up a couple of things for me there :D
Not trying to offend or anything. Just open to all my options and opinions of others.
Cheers.

I am not sure you will get all those mods for VE for less than 6000 (let alone 5000) in any city (including Perth going by Daniel's response), but I might be wrong.

No probs. Always good to get things clear.

I'm sure you wouldn't get them for less than that for a VE but the original post didn't say it was for a VE. I know I should've checked what car CSP has.
I was talking about prices for my VT2 and I'm sure it'll probably still be closer to the 6000 for the extractors, high flow cats, exhaust, OTR and tune for my car anyway.
Sorry for the confusion.

Cheers. Am i the only one that could see you carrying on like you were being ripped off until Hazza said the words "DIFILIPPO"...
That was then followed by a poor excuse for an apology!!!

But you know me better than probably anyone else on the LS1 forum.

Firstly, I agree you must compare apples with apples.
Why not ring Greg at Sureflo and get a price on some options, then call Oztrack. (Steve). Get your prices, take a leisurely drive to Cambelltown from Canberra, and see Greg, then hop on the M7 to the M4 head west and meet up with Oztrack, then head home. Nice trip and my bet you will save plenty.

No need to drive all the way up there to see Greg at Sureflo as there is a Sureflo reseller right here in Canberra, us. And yes there are many options other than a full stainless steel DiFilippo dual 3" system (ie sureflo, xforce etc) "to save plenty", and all can be catered for right here, but again its horses for courses and personal preference.
