Just wondering what the general feeling is regarding redback systems. My car has a twin 2.5 redback and i have put advanced headers on it, took the rear ressie of and its pretty droney inside the cabin. Spoke to a few exhaust shops and they reckon the redback system isn't good quality and that a custom made twin 2.5 would make it sound better with the same set up i have, how true is this or they trying to make some money off me?
Been fed a lot of different bullshit that not everyone agrees as to what will give the ultimate V8 loud grunt i am after, without the drone.
Ive heard putting on hotdogs in place of middle mufflers, the guy that fitted my headers said put hotdogs at the rear, another place said that the hotdogs will give the same sound as when i had the rear ressie on.
Won't touch it until you guys can hopefully put me on the right track
All the best

removing rear ressi is the key to your drone
the redback systems are not a bad system...no way as good as difillipo but the difilipo cost decent $$$$

Power and flow wise, I think there fine, people get great results from them.
Soundwise, well its a matter of opinion, but I don't think they sound as good as other systems. Just an opinion.
If you're happy keep it, if you're not, ditch it.
My 2c. :)

There is certainly nothing wrong with the quality of a redback system definently equal to a difillipo but they were designed as a system to be fitted and comply with the 90db limit and have a bit of a note. They dont sound as good as others with the rear muffler removed because the wernt designed for that, they use 2 different centre muffler designs. To say that a custom system is better its debatable, unless they can make mandrel bent systems. It would be more profit in custom system then off the shelf

na mate had a cam package done few months ago on my ute and is the best few invested cash so far. strongly recommend, might need to get a tougher clutch to handle the new power tho, oh an new tyres will be needed not long after cam has gone in, haha!!

i don't know what my system is, as it was the first mod back in 2004. but Phonsey says it's an early REDBACK. if he says so , thats what it is! now with 1 3/4 4-1 pacemakers with 3 inch hi flow metal cats, very BIG improvement in the NOISE department, so b4 you go changing anything else get some hi flow cats fitted.
p.s i used to only rev out to around 2500 for the gear changes, but since the 4-1's and cats it's more like 3500-4000 every gear change and such a bigger smile:evil:
