View Full Version : 08 build HSV VE GTS: JUNE delivery?!
Hi guys, I have just been told that my HSV VE GTS that I ordered (for an 08 build) will only be delivered in June (!!!).
Is anyone else having the same situation?
PS: salesperson also refuted the LS3 claim. I am now wondering if I should just cancel the order altogether and have a wait-and-see....
I'm so glad I found a Clubsport on the lot with EXTREMELY low k's, red, manual, full leather... Spoke to the HSV salesman who told me it would be at least a 4 month (late May or early June) wait if I had to order one! The wait would have killed me. It was bad enough, deciding on a Thursday, that I had to wait 5 days (the following Tuesday) to pick it up! lol
Aww jeezz so it's looking like that is the case across the board...
I am contemplating just plunging on an 07 build because the wait would indeed kill me too.
Wait it out and get the 6.2ltr.
Good things happen to the people that wait.
Sure you'll be in for a slooooooow 5-6months, but atleast you wont be kicking yourself getting the ls2 over the ls3 ;). Not that theres anything wrong with the ls2 but the later is the better.
Ive heard orders being delayed till August, June isn't too bad.
Jeebus August?!??!
.... RED 07 build M6 awaiting my signature now... decisions decisions.... ordered a phantom because wifey thinks red attracts too much attention

Three months is about average for a factory built car. Your salesman might be playing it safe and giving himself some breathing space. If you cant wait that long, you may try and change your options a little and see if they can source one for you from another dealer . It is quite common for them to do that .....Cheers John
Well thing is, I ordered it back in DECEMBER, was told a MARCH delivery (which is still within my tolerance) and in line with the 3-month standard waiting time.

Of course the sales guy is going to refute the LS3 claim as he won't sell another LS2 if people are going to hang out for the LS3.
They have stopped making the LS2 engine I believe and the LS3 and L92 is the engine of choice for the American market.
Ring the sales guy and tell him you will order one when they can get you a LS3.
cheers

I remember reading somewhere that with the E seires, HSV were delibaretly slowing the building process to keep demand up and help resale values.

Ordered in DECEMBER?! jeez the wait would be killing me as well
you said you ordered it, did you pay a deposit? and if so I dont think that they would look too kind upon you cancelling the order, I know I wouldnt.
(excuse my ignorance as I have never bought a new car from a dealer can you explain to me how it works with the ordering and deposit not taking a snip at you)

I ordered my R8 at the end of December and I should see it 1st week in March. Another person ordered an r8 around the same time and they are waiting until April sometime. ( Leather was the hold up there. )
I was also told the 6.2 won't be out this year.
BUT
I was also told by the sales person if it is released or HSV advise dealers of its release, the dealership will keep my car and order me a 6.2.
So I don't have anything to worry about!
I have also heard HSV are slowing down production to keep resale HIGH!
What options did you ask for?
Red leather, DVD, sunroof. It's an M6. I reckon the options do push it out a little bit further but June is way, way too long!
I would've loved to wait for the LS3 but I am car-less at the moment. Been eyeing the GTS since it came out in 2005 was it?

Yeah agree June is just crazy unless you've optioned a tailor made mini-bar or something.
hsvforum.com.au also has someone reporting similar waiting times as me... :bawl:

WOW June for a 08 build GTS that's bulls#@t:vpo:, I would cancel the order and shop around for a few months your sure to get an 08 build before June.
Whats going on HOLDEN lift your game.:nono:
Sigh, I would even consider 07 build at the moment, considering how psyched I have been about the car.
uwish - my post count not high enough to send PM yet! Silver is one of the last colors I'd consider buying though... just personal preference.
Anyone else knows any ex-stock? :p M6 (a must), sunroof, red leather.

Does anyone know when the factory started production again in 2008?? after the X-mas new year break. If in fact they have a break?
I was told their first day back at work was Monday 14 Jan.

GDB,are you in Sydney?
if you are Mcrath HSV at Liverpool has a few to choose from.
i doubt if they`re 08 built though.
i ordered a ssv ute from there and they told me 6 weeks wait, and a Sri turbo for the mrs late April!
good luck with it all.
The arguments for "wait for the next big thing", whether it be the 6.2 litre V8 or whatever are just stupid. Work out exactly what you want, buy it now and be smiling! If you forever wait for the next big thing, you'll never have anything!
Yes I'm in Sydney and thanks for the tip!

GDB,go and see young Chris Biancucci,he`s the HSV specialist down there and tell him Joe sent you and ask him where the hell is my ute:)
good luck mate

Wait it out and get the 6.2ltr.
Good things happen to the people that wait.
I really do hope this doesn't become YET ANOTHER thread on the LS3.
Good things often do come to those that wait, but when talking cars, "waiting" often means being closer to the next model, leading to further devaluation and possible dissatisfaction that you didn't wait longer again, no matter what engine is fitted!

Perhaps you don't understand "supply and demand" and it's affect on pricing.
What would be the point of cancelling the order then shopping around "for a few months"? It would be June before you know it anyway...

When I spoke to my local dealer late last year I said I wanted an 08 plate.
I was told that I would be waiting awhile as HSV would be concentrating more on exports in 2008 and there will be large delays for anybody wanting an 08 plate in the first half of the year.

Why bother getting an 08 plate in the last half year. Tell em u want an 09 plate delivered 01/09, give em heaps of time to make it.

One of the main reasons for the wait period is that Holden are building as many G8's as possible to build up yard stock for the US. This cuts down the line space for some local models (including HSV), meaning it takes HSV longer to get the base car.

Thats probably exactly what they are hoping. Clear the dealer forecourts of stock and empty the production runs. Gear up for the new LS3 and start building them. Give everyone a June delivery date.
They will hope some give up and buy the 07 stock.
ADR 79/02 comes into play 1st July 2008 all new cars must then comply with Euro 4 standards. Given production lines, parts delivery lead times etc, I would expect them to be clearing out for this now. Apparently the LS2 does not comply but the LS3 with much better heads and larger displacement does. Plus you will get the first release with a much detuned engine to play with.
Just my opinion, but if they say June, Id cancel and wait till you know you will get the 6.2L otherwise you will be kicking yourself. Though I suspect your June delivery will be a 6.2L anyway. Maybe leave the order in an in May review the situation.

I have been informed that all HSVs made in 08 will be with the LS3. Although the salesman may not know or can not tell you, it is happening. My brother in law has ordered a clubby in november and has just received a call this week asking if he wants to cancel the order as it cannot be fulfilled due to the contract having the LS2 on it, or go ahead with the order for an extra $1500 with the LS3. It wont be ready until April or may either. So there must be a huge order for them to be taking that long and maybe a bit more LS3 testing. All will be revealed soon.
Yep I saw your other thread. I sure do hope it IS happening although till now it seems your brother-in-law is the only one who had that confirmation.

Yeah June is right. We're backing orders up here til June/July/August.
If your salesman won't give you the LS3 it's because
-Any record of an LS3 being sold cannot appear on Holden database (ie a contract drawn up on a work computer)
-Big ass lawsuit for the dealership if any LS3 gets confirmed or sold prior to official release date (June, but the first of the LS3s will roll out of the factory in April)
I drew up a contract for a client today, not for an LS3 or anything like that, but I wrote it up in Microsoft Word. It isn't an official Holden Contract, but it's still very much legally binding if it were taken to court.
Don't deal with Holden salespeople selling HSVs. Holden, and HSV are two different brands of cars completely. Holden salespeople won't know squat about what's going on in the HSV realms. If you want to speak to someone who knows, speak to an actual HSV salesperson.
Otherwise you're going to be blowing hot air to someone who knows nothing and just wasting your time.
But if you signed a contract, you've already bought the LS2. No way a dealer will let you out of it. I know I wouldn't. How the hell would I sell an LS2 when the LS3s are sitting on the yard?

Contract was signed in November. Rung up this week and was told that he can cancel the deal if he wanted to, or they can do another contract with the LS3 for an extra $1500. So basically they wont be doing anymore in LS2. The ones that roll out in April will probably be the first for 08 and will all have the LS3. I could imagine if you rang holdens and wanted to change a contract you would have no chance, but being the other way around I think most would be happy to pay a bit extra and get the LS3. Theres no way that holden can fulfill their part of the contract because of the engine change. Would be good to hear of anyone else who has had the same offer as well. I think everyone agrees the LS3 will be here before June, so it does make sense. Why would HSV make cars with the LS2 and then 2 months later change to the LS3? Its obvious they are delaying the release to take the gloss off the ford release. What are ford releasing again.:nyuk:

Dont worry, as soon as theres a press release it will be on one of the 10 threads, you can never have enough of them, on here.:diddy:

ROFL, what a load of tripe. HSV salespeople are the SAME as Holden salespeople. I work very closely with Holden and HSV in dealerships and there is more info on here than they would know in most cases. Dealerships are generally the LAST to get any real info. Sure blow smoke up your own arse all you like but trying to make out HSV sales ppl are any more in the know than non-HSV salespeople is pure fiction. Sure SOME may research more than others and be more into the products but its not due to any company influences.

Why is it that this info of 100% fact ls3 engines are already contratced is coming from WA and SA. ????
VIC, NSW and QLD haven't beed told sh*t. And I'm sure the East coast sells for HSVs that WA and SA.
Food for thought!

Well I'd like to see where everyone is getting there info from. My clubby will be 08 build and compliance. Does that mean I'm getting a 6.2? I have had NO Calls and my contract is signed. Why would I pay extra if I have a signed contact for the price I agreed to?

All these spicy rumors lol
All i know is what i was told from a dealer and that is all 08 vehicles will be fitted with a 6.2L engine, with the rrp not changing. I notice that some have been saying there is an increase of $1500 or similar.
The sales guy wanted me to either take floor stock at a significant discount, or sign up for a factory unit with a 6.2 at no extra cost, and no discount either obviously.
Thats what i was told.
How the hell would I sell an LS2 when the LS3s are sitting on the yard?
At a discount of course!
When its all done and dusted I am tempted by a good solid discount for an LS2 that i could be driving in a few days.

Youre contract has been signed on a LS2. If they dont make them with the LS2 anymore then they cant honour their contract. There must be some fine print. I would presume that everyone will find out in the coming weeks via phone call, in the post or in the media. I dont think it is a matter for renegotiation, unless you cancel deal and then go down to holdens again and put in another order and go to the end of the line. They just ask you if youre still interested at a higher price for the LS3. An extra $1500.
