Hi Guys,
Long time reader fist time poster...
Here is my problem/question:
The Maloo has Traction Control, great! when I turn it off I expect it to stay off... problem is if I am brutal with the gas eg On/Off/On/Off the bloody traction control enables it self automatically???
I spoke to my local Holden dealer about this who has absolutly no bloody idea...typical.
Called HSV still waiting on a call back. typical.
So anyhow Im heading out to a drift day this weekend, and need to have it stay off the whole time other wise its not going to be a very fun weekend.
I did a quick search and read a few other threads about this but they didn't touch on the thing re-enabling it self automatically issue.
Does anyone know how I can permanatly turn off the traction control?
And does anyone know how this "Abuse Control" thing works and how this can be disabled, I can see that being a problem too.
HSV Maloo R8, 2006 Model, Series 2, AUTO.
Thank you.

I have absolutely no idea but mercedes have the same sorta thing. Traction control turns itself back on if it feels it needs to. You can turn this off by holding down the t/c button for about 5 seconds and its off for good. But thats in a merc. No harm trying it in your car though
Never heard of any such thing. Does the traction light flash in low traction situations??
Without trying to point out the bleeding obvious, you know you have to turn it off each time you start the car. Also as a last ditch effort, maybe you could consider pulling the fuse before your drift day.
Mate I can give you a quick fix for your skidpan day, but permanently I'm out of ideas sorry.
My mate unplugged his abs module from the engine bay of his VY Supercharged 6, so essentially he had no abs or trac ctrl at all whilst it was unplugged. Trouble is that you get a LOW TRAC / ABS FAULT warning flashing on your little dash screen. It goes away as soon as you plug it back in though and we've not noticed any long term effects of doing this.
Just a quick fix so you enjoy ur skid sesh :)

I have a VZ SS and i have run into this abuse mode myself.
You are right, you can turn off TC by holding the button for 5 seconds but abuse mode is something else entirely.
I have the problem that when i try to do a linelocker, stanstill etc, the car drops back to 4 cylinders while you have the brake applied. As soon as you drop the brake, all good, 100% power. It is a pain in the arse and i am told that it can be removed when you have a tune done.
I am waiting for my new car warranty to run out in September and then the abuse mode will be gone forever..... :dancenana::wave:

Yep well aware I have to turn it off when It starts... there is also a setting to leave it off by default but it makes no difference.

Your handbrake should fix that. Yes if you use the brake it will lower torque etc. Handbrake no problems.
Never heard of TC coming back on. Do you think this TC coming on would be just autos to protect the box or both manual and auto. Be interesting to find out. A tune should overright this issue eitherway.

there was a review of the ve ss ute that said it turned traction control/dsc back on when you gave the brakes a good stab (ie you turn it off to have fun but they dont trust you enough so if you jump on the brakes hard enough it comes back on to save "you". they said this only happened on the ute.
maybe they had something similar on the vz -
not a bad feature as long as you could turn it off off like the merc
