Gidday all,
Looking for some advice on a CAI for my VE SS.
I have been looking on the net and there seem to be heaps of different ones, most of which look the same.
I have noticed there seem to be two main types. The OTR type and the other type which looks to be a couple of pieces of tube with a filter. This type may be either aluminium or plastic.
Just wondering if there is much difference in performance between the types.
Is plastic better than aluminium due to heat soak?
Any info. appreciated and thanks in advance.

Cheers for that, I have done that but can't find any info comparing the OTR type and the other types.
I guess I'll have another go.

I went for the 4" alloy piping with big K@N pod down in the bottom of the front bar. Most here will say go with over the radiator style but i love the sound of the pod filter on WOT. Horsepower wise there must be a thread covering this somewhere but i cant find it!

An OTR is definitely the way to go but much more expensive. I never got a base run done when I had my old CAI fitted to see how much gain it gave me (thanks to my previous tuner :vpo:) but based on the results of others I'd guess somewhere between 5 and 10rwkw.
When I had the Orssom OTR (from Sonny) fitted the power figure jumped from 247.1rwkw previously to 255.something and after Chev tweaked the tune it got to 262.4! :yahoo: There is probably still a few more kw in it but we ran out of time, so will hopefully get it tweaked further soon. :)

If you're interested I have my old (almost new) CAI for sale. Very good for those wanting to keep under the bonnet looking as standard as possible and avoid heatsoak problems as it is heavy duty black rubber piping.

Thanks for the info fellas. I'll do a bit more research as I'm looking at cams and things as well.
Wonky, pm me about that if you like as I can't pm anyone yet.
Cheers
