I visited a Holden dealer today and quizzed a salesman about when the 6.2L engines would come out and he said that there was no plans at all about releasing anything other than the LS2 and that there would never ever be a 7L HSV!

It was funny as. He either never looks at the new info going around or he just wanted to try to mug me off in the hope that I would buy a LS2 HSv (not that there is anything wrong with the LS2's mind you)

Seriously, considering HSV dealers are selling EVERY SINGLE ONE of the GTS versions they are allocated, and there's a several month waiting list, what reason would there be to majorly discount them!

LS3 is very soon, as mentioned in a closed thread. You can never have enough information on these things. There will be no 6L HSVs made in 2008. All will have the 6.2L and will not be out for at least a couple of months, depending on how long ago you ordered and how it fits into production. HSV dealers are ringing customers to tell them and making them aware of the extra $1500 for it, which is understandable. Was told they would be out in late April early May, could be a month earlier, to coincide with the Orion. Has anyone that has one on order received a call yet about it?

I have called a number of HSV dealers and asked what the wait is and I would sign a contract if they can state a 6.2 engine will be in the car. All said there is NO 6.2 coming at the moment.
I also called METRO and the sales guy said his next available car was April / May and he still said it was rumours. No contract guarntee.
If all 08" E series are 6.2s it is 100% BS. No call from HSV. Since they only went back on the 21/1.

Ordered end of November and told them to wait until 08 to order car from Holdens so that it would be plated 08.

You couldnt order it with the upgrade, only with the 6 litre as that was all they had, but any 08 ones will have the 6.2. Lets just wait and see if Im wrong or right. Order those plates anyway.

the 6.2 has to come because of emmission laws, the ls2 6.0 wont meet the laws, so the 6.2 will be comming sooner or later, and as the corvette is already running with the 6.2 with 436hp with dual mode exhaust system its not that hard to believe is it? if you were in the market for one and you could get a new 07 GTS for under 70k drive away in the color you wanted you would buy one, the only difference is 200cc and probably d.o.d. they wont be discounting 08 6.2 until 09!!!!

Anyway, I got home and checked on my paperwork: for the base car (i.e. without any options) I signed for LESS than $66,900 + LCT + stamp duty. Mind you this is for an '08 build car.

Regardless, I am not disputing LS3 is not coming. I do believe it'll come ("sooner or later", as 10,000 other posters seem to agree), but a $66,900 '07 GTS is probably not the indication of things to come (with all due respect, no flames intended).

Was told that if i ordered a factory vehicle now, i could expect delivery around april or may. And it wouldn't ship with a 6.0L engine, but rather a 6.2L. That would b the only change in spec.

I don't think the sales dude could've said it any more straightforward than he did.

VE doesn't come in serie 1, 2, 3 etc. Once they bring a new engine out in any model, in any car, the old one is no longer and is only sold until stocks are depleted.
