Let me introduce the new HPF project car, a new VE Calais V.

We will post here progress each step of the way. Plans are to produce a car with luxury, performance and style. Something along the lines of an M5 or an AMG.

As purchased:

Good plan but how about doing it to a budget? Say total of say 100K and fully street legal?

If you are going along the lines of a M5 or E63 AMG you wont need much... 300 rwkw, 0-100 in 4.6 seconds, big wheels, big brakes, improved handling and some interior upgrades.

i think a stealth theme for this one would be a good idea. i for one know a few blokes with plenty of cash but won't do performance mods to their stockers as they still need to be used for business.

Thanks for the comments guys, we do value them and to prove that, HPF are going to let ls1.com.au members decide how the Calais will be modified!

Look out for a poll very soon!

Looks fantastic. Some of the 22 inch wheels look too big on the VE but they look great.

Was the HPF Calais V at Calder on Friday (along with your other cars)? If so which mods did it have to run the times it did?

Thanks,

Alex

Saw it there on Friday. Not sure what it ran though. Still running the 22's on the rear.

This is looking like it'l be one nice build! A large stroker would be tough as :flame: 7.5L, twin 3.5"s, OTR just some ideas... Look foward to seeing how it goes over time :nos::nos::nos:

I did see a 13.3. It sounded stock. So maybe edit only???

The yellow F6 (your friends?) wasnt as quick (11.4?) as I have seen in the past (11.0?) ... what was wrong?

That was mine.
I was running a new mild street tune with limited cool down period before runs. Good night overall.

Noticed quite a few HPF cars down there for runs but didnt get to see any times.

The Silver TT R8 ran 9.7 I think. The XR8 ute seemed to have problems and wasnt very quick ...

Hey All,

Yes HPF was at Calder on Friday with three cars.

As a summary:

The VE Calais ran a best of 13.3 @ 170.7 with a cat back, OTR and edit only (dyno sheets of mods very soon). This was full weight, 22's, baby seat and no stalling up at the line. One run was done with more of a launch but wheelspin resulted in a 14.02.

The silver VX TTLSI was doing a couple of test runs in preparation for the ls1nats. Ran a best of 9.741 @ 236.62.

The XR8 did a 12.294 @ 195.99 which wasn't too bad for its first runs in current configuration. A broken supercharger belt ended its night.

Mauz, I thought you were banned from Calder with the 10sec pass ... did you put a cage in or did they just let you in regardless?

Which OTR did you use? Do you have your own? Can we have a look? Can you please post the slip? Looking forward to the dyno results etc ...

It's been around 4-5 months since my 10 sec run so they didn't remember me. Though there shouldn't be a problem as long as a 10 sec pass isn't done.

Maybe a phone call and a friendly reminder to calder won't go astray unless u take me for a ride ? :)

We are currently trialing the Russo OTR on this car. However we have also used a modified version of our LS1 OTR on another VE with success.

Dyno sheets can be found in this thread: Australian LS1 and Holden Forums (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=93640)

Unfortunately progress has slowed down a little due to lack of time. We've just received a shiny new dominator converter which we'll put in to trial, put some decent tyres on and go looking for a 12sec pass.

Then we'll be taking everyones comments on board, selecting a path and heading down the horsepower road.
