Hi Guys,

I am thinking of adding a blower to my SV300 . Would it be better to use a Vortech Super Charger so I could take it off if the itme came to sell it to keep it original? Or would it not matter to a prospective buyer thats assuming I ever sell it.

If ur gonna go the blower,i would fit a harrop H122 Blower, you can restore the car back to original as fitting this type blower does not require any huge mods.

im with sonny go for a PD blower, you wont need to bin the original airbox or anything like you would with a centrifugal (vortech, powerdyne etc.) blower or turbo. plus they dont need any extra brackets hung off the side of the engine.

You could always sell it with the blower for $xx,xxx and without $xx,xxx depending on the buyers requests. Go ahead and strap a PD to it mate and if your not thinking of selling it yet then dont worry about what the next person wants...it is still your car and only your car to enjoy!!

I am little worried about the drivline if I put the blower.
with the work done so far it is making 800nm of torque im guessing it would go close to 1000nm of torque with the blower would I need to look at the diff?
THe clutch is fine it has already been done.
I am going to have to get the engine mapping looked at I have a feeling when the cam was done they did not re-map the computer. It stops making power at around 200Rwkw at 165km 4th gear. If I drive at 110 km in 4th I am notice a bit of a surge so I have a feeling it is running lean. it should be making at least 260rwkw given the cam is a crane HR220 and it has the C4B heads. Can someone recommend where I should take it for a tune I am in the eastern suburbs Melbourne.

Cheers

Autotechnique (Rowville), G and D (Cranbourne), APS service Centre (Frankston), Chevs Auto (Carrum Downs)

All are excellent in the services they provide and will sort your car out for sure...and give blower quotes (maybe test runs in their cars too)!

Your diff shouldnt have nay problems coping with the torque your putting through it

I seriously doubt you are making 800Nm of torque, especially as you say it stops making power at 200rwkw. Something drastically wrong there.

I'd be getting that sorted and then assessing options.

It is making 794 nm torque at 111km 4th gear I had a power run the other day. The KW drops off after 5000rpm when the engine gets lean. It is for sure making the torque that the dyno result showed I have driven alot of 300rwkw cars and this thing pulls as good as anything I have driven.
The power drops off higher in the rev range. I have reciepts for all the work that was done by the previous owner $12,000 was spent on the motor 6000km ago however I dont have any reciepts for re-mapping given that the cam has changed and the car for sure drives lean and the dyno run shoes this also. I am thinking it still has the original tune Unless whoever did the tune completely cocked it up.

I got a hold of the folks that did the rebuild. They did re-map the engine but it was not dyno tuned and they said it is pretty much as it was originally form HSV so that explains it. I dont understand how someone can spend a bag on new parts and not tune the car to get the beifit from it. Any each to there own I guess looks like I have to find 1 grand to fix it.

My old VU Ls1 was making 205 rwkw at around 165 kph in 4th gear with just some bolt ons untuned.

Best advice has allready been given in this thread and that is to take it to one of the forum sponsors near you and they will give you an honest assesment of your car and how to get it to make power.

If your power is dropping off after 5000 rpm and is lean it must be very lean.
How lean is it ?

cheers

TO Be honest I am not 100% sure it flattened out after 5000 rpm but started making power gain again comming up on 6000 but i did not let them run it higher to see if it was run to 6500rpm based on what I saw it would make 225rwk still short on what it should be based on the work done.

Are you still thinking about the blower mate...get it tuned properly and enjoy that for a while until the bug bites you again!! Good luck hope the tune makes it an animal!

I think I will just get the tune and leave it be. I only drive it on Sundays and I love the car to much to do anything to it. I guess I will have to get myself a VE ute for work then I have something to play with.

I got it from A HSV dealer in Frankston not sure if you can mention company names here I got it about 1 month ago. I have always had hdt and hsv cars but went overseas for a few years and got back here and got the bug bag to get a Sunday toy. Once its in your blood you cant change i guess
