Dam Radiator or dam repairer.

In november last year went out for a drive. Noticed a water leak. hmm had a look top right handside of radiator core leaking.

Its got 78000klms on her holden was too busy to see it the following week.

Didn't drive it.

Wife called up our local radiator repairer got it booked in for new radiator
when they put the new one in they rang my wife and said the right hand side thermo fan is not working. We have to put new thermo set in okay she said that explains why the radiator core went.

They put the new fans in the right hand side still not working but worked when aircon was switched on.

They told my wife it must be the fuse relay.

I bought one on my way home stuck it in same issue i thought new fans probably a waste of money but oh well new better than old.???

Checked temp normal as usual.

Four months later 82000klm checked it last night undid rad cap surprise sludge under cap brain spinning oil deposits :eyes:

Checked dip stick clean oil trans a clean until end of tip (dark) not pink

checked inside rocker covers clean.

Coolant looked ordinary started car with cap off coolant started to rise and clear couple of revs it went down idling it came up again looking clean,

Checked the thermo fans not working turned on air con they worked put cap back on What the hell is going on ?????:confused::confused:

So you are saying that the coolant had oily residue mixed with it?

It could be auto tranny fluid if your car is an auto.

Yes it is auto

It is possible that the tranny line that runs through the radiator has failed causing trans fluid to mix with the coolant.

Have a look at this thread and see if this is similar:

oil under the cap usually means ya got a head gasket leak. Hopefully its not that, cost ya a shit load to fix.

Yeah a little milk under RAD cap stuck finger into top of radiator dark oil on tip green up top engine is running fine no lose of power maybe slight leak in gasket gees it would cost a shit load to fix.

do you think i should retun it to that radiator fix shop as they pressure tested it and said car was fine the thermo fans could be a contributing factor if it is head gasket?

V6 have other crap added to the radiator coolant, it sorta goes a brownie slimy crap around the top after a while. water pump lube i think its for. heard of it never used it. holden adds it too i believe.
