I feel like i need vent some frustration by, I have a Black 05 VZ SS Ute which i bought brand new. I was sitting in Hungry Jacks last week eating with some mates when i saw a guy walk to his car and found a dent on his door he then looked at the car next to him and paint colour matched his door. Instead of being angry and pissed of he went syco and was kicking to other cars door and denting that and then just drove off.. I couldn't believe and was laughing so hard but i know where he is coming from.
I clean my car a few days ago and everytime i clean it i always managed to find a new dent or scratch on the left side of my car though there is nothing on the drivers side. So its all because the drivers getting into their car when they open the door.
I am at the point that i am so frustrated that next time i see someone do it, i'm gonna kick in their door.
Has anyone else done or seen this happen??

What if you missed the fact that the dent was there before and you kicked the wrong persons car door in? More to the point how would you like it if someone did that to your car mistaking you for denting his car? Two wrongs don't make a right. It's frustrating I know, but that's not the answer.

Yeah i understand where you are coming from, I love the black holdens especially the utes. Though with all these dents and scratches i am going to either park miles away at the shops or buy a differnet colour!!

Everytime I walk to my car, and a car has parked really close, I walk around and check to see if there is any marks. Not many people respect the car next to them. Espescially if there's is a heap of s***!
I know the frustration though when you find a mark and the impact lines up with the door. You DO feel like kicking their car!
Hence, try to buy a really cheap daily and use that for shop runs like I used to do. Not always possible I know.

Its not just black cars you find dents n scratches i have a white car and i wash it. dry it and find marks on it that i dun possibly know how even got there... ones on back bumper near the start on side :S thast strange! small rub marks no dents. I would get pissed off too if some1 dented mine with door and left a significant mark but to kick there car and f@ck off? thats bit much..

I feel every bit of your pain champ! they will get what's coming to them:vpo:

sometimes its an easy match, shape of door colour etc.
only real comeback is to give them something to think about next time. since chances are that you can do nothing about it even if you say something to them.
mum was saying she parked in this safe spot between pole at a shopping centre. some guy told her not to park there but it was just a normal spot. next time she did she had her wipers bent back and twisted. some chinese guy who works there and likes to have the spot apparently, even though they are not supposed to use the shopping centre carpark.

How about I start designing some car surveillance systems, a hard drive recorder in the boot, with cameras on each wing mirror to get the rego of people parking next to you, and any door dings or parking rash in the act. Put a rear camera on and you have a reversing cam & a good way to get the rego of rear-end hit and runs.
Anyone?

i know the feeling, ive got to breaking point now, every time i wash my silver VYSS i find a new little knick here and there, ive finally snapped and im shelling out the cash to get both doors on both sides resprayed......i know it sounds extreme but it pisses me off to no end to find new marks every time you wash your pride and joy. Now heres hoping that the panel beaters match the paint up right!

I try to avoid carparks for the exact same reason. I can just imagine 4 kids piling out all hyper about going to the movies and respect for my panels is the last thing on thier minds. I usually walk a good 250 metres from the car park to a shopping center but anyone notice that no matter how far back you park, or how many car parks are free, somone will park next to you?

hahahah, oh i know the feeling! whats worse tho, i used to work at a supermarket back when i was 18 and owned and absolutely immaculate HJ Premier, no matter how far i parked it away from everyone else, even in another car park, i always came out to find at least one shopping trolley next to or leaning against the car.........enough to make a man cry! :(

Just bought A VT commodore haven't even owned it a week and some retarded soccer mum has dented in the driver side door and back reversing out of my local shopping centres car park.
Idiot owned a big 4WD and you could tell the thing was only used to drive around the burbs.

Funny that this has come up. I was filling up at the servo this morning & noticed that some tool has parked by brail on the rear drivers wheel arch. This has only happened at the xray place we were at this morning, as i washed it on sunday & did not park near anything yester day. It has black plastic on the edge & seems to have rubbed through the clear. Alot of it may polish out, maybe. I also have some marks on some of the door bump strips. And i always park in siberia, at shops. I wont jump on someones car if i dont see it done, but if i see it, then i dont think i would be able to hold back. This sort of attitude or cowardice towards owning up to doing damage, gets under my skin. Even if i accidently put a minute mark on some one elses car i would leave details or wait until they came out. I would expect the same sort of courtesy back.

The joys of owning a black car. I always check my car when I have been at the car park and always try to park near a pole so that it stops other people parking near you denting your car

Heya Guys,
Got a little tip I got from an old guy once who has always owned nice cars-said if you EVER have to park in a shopping centre, car park etc pick the nicest possible expensive smicko car possible to park next to. They will be just as careful about damaging their paint & panels as you!!!

I parked my car in the Ingle Farm Rec Centre Carpark yesterday arvo
whilst watching the kids play basketball, one of the very rare ocassions
that it goes into carparks. Parked down the back corner with no other
cars around. When I return an hour later there were still no other
cars, except for a VY Calais on one side and a VE SS on the other
side. Old girl must still look alright after a spit and polish :)

And what about Motel parking--that can be REALLY tight. A friend of mine parked his lovely CV8 in a corner, where there was absolutely no room to park next to him. He comes out of his room shortly after, & there's a big, dirty, 4WD parked VERY close to him!--and at the same time, blocking off part of the driveway!
When we had our CV8, we were at a motel on one occasion, when some f....w.t in a VN tried to park between me & another car- there was about one inch of space on each side!
When I go to motels, I always try to suss out the parking first to get somewhere safe.- On a few occasions I've seen cars arrive, after perhaps a long drive--the doors are flung open, & BANG--another dent--on someone elses car!
Cheers, Pickles.
I never park in any spot in a car park unless there is a single position with no parking on either side. I would prefer to park on the street rather than risk a dent in a car park.
After reading all of the above experiences I definately wont be going anywhere near a car parking spot next to another car. The odds are to high!

yes yes yes ! i HATE when this happens ! ill go to a carpark, which has at least 10 free spots in a row, ill park in one, and someone will come along, and park RIGHT NEXT TO ME, when there are 8 other free spots to choose from. they also park so close i cant even open my door. shits me to no end :flipoff:

Yeah its a real problem everywhere u go
Check out the convention centre in Perth. I park there every second week and do just wat people have said, park next to another cool commo or ford
If I have parked next to a pole on one side, there is sure to be another good looking car next to me when I go home. the old respect the other dudes car rule applies.
However there is always the exception to the rule sometimes.
(LOL the funny thing is I normally always set of their car alarms when I start.....sorry

This used to happen to my old(96) falcon a lot (Was a really nice car as well) So when I HAD to park in a public place, I would find the emptiest section of the car park and diagonal park across 2 bays. I stopped getting dings and dents and never got a fine so I will continue doing this. I think of it this way, If no-one has the courtesy to leave there details when they damage your property, don't give them the chance to do it. And if it's busy in that car park, I go home as every car space will probably need to be used.

How often does it happen that you park in the most out of the way spot at carparks and you come back and there are plenty of other spots and someone in a POS has parked next to you...:vpo:
On the other hand, I was at work the other day getting a coffee and I saw a person get out and smack the car next to them with their door. They looked around and when they saw no-one watching them they started to wlak off. I walked up to them and just stood there looking at them..suffice to say details were exchanged.

We have just got rid of our Territory with heaps of dents and scratches on it for a brand new Kluger, with nice bright blue metallic paint, and I have already told myself to get used to the fact that it's just a shopping trolley, and it's gunna get damaged by some inconsiderate f#@k's.
My kids are taught from very early not to open doors and let us open them, that way you can put your hand on the edge of the door to try to protect someone else car.
You can but try.

People in POS do it just to get THAT reaction.Makes them them all warm and fuzzy inside knowing it would upset certain poeple like your good self, when you arrive back.
Mind you,it gives them a great excuse to look over and admire your ride....that's my interpretation of it ;)

I try to drive my "POS" if I have to go to a shopping centre but on the odd occasion that I dare to enter a shopping centre car park, I try to park as far away from other cars. I also tend to park at the end of a row of parking spaces, usually next to a kerbing/median strip type set up. The spaces in some car parks seem to be a bit wider at the end of the rows. You can park as snug to the kerb as you can without scraping your rims, thereby protecting one side of the car at least.

I know what you mean so it helps when i park mine at work that i have the "safety in numbers" thing happening by having co workers that park either side of me and others by them.
It helps alot when you have others who take pride in their ride also :)

That may help a bit, but these days you see a lot of mothers with kids. And worse, a lot mothers that appear to come from countries to Australia's north, also with kids, driving some very nice cars.
Generally the dont give a s#it.
My local large multi shopping centre car park is usually full of near new big $$ S class Mercs and German SUV's etc, parked just as randomly as any other old crap box. Im sure most of the owners dish out and recieve dents on a daily basis, without a care in the world.
I believe there was a test case in the US several years ago where a car owner sued another driver for door denting their car in a car park. The offender used the defence that car park door dents were a natural part of life and to be expected. The sad thing was, the judge agreed.

I was in a supermarket carpark last week and saw a man and his daughter on her L's pull into a carpark in a brand new Mazda 2.
While she's inside getting something some young emo looking guy with chains on his belt comes and leans on her car (drivers side front quarter panel) scatching the paint a bit wih the chains.
So the dad in the passenger seat jumps out of the car, bails this kid up and almost has him tears, drags him over to the atm and makes him withdraw as much cash as he could. It looked like he got about $1000 worth of fifties from this jerk.
I bet that guy will have a bit more respect for other cars in carparks from now on!!

Too Right! It all comes down to respect!
It shouldnt matter if the car beside you is a 120y or a ferrari (though i doubt you'd find many of these in carparks), you should have the sense to know that you dont have the right to damage other ppls property, and if by accident you do, have the maturity to take responsibility for your actions.
Iv seen it plenty of times and more often than not its the rich unappreciative ppl diving their mercs and beamers that do it!
And just like the rest of you it s*#ts me! Ive worked hard to get my car, and it makes me sooooo angry to find a new dent or scratch to add to my growing collection:bawl:

She parked the car and went into the shop while dad waited in the car. When she had gone the guy must have thought the car was empty so he leant against it while he was talking to one of his mates.
