Nice bike, looks great

I had the blue version :)

I ended up peeling the YAMAHA stickers of the underbelly, cleans it up abit, but be warned takes a while to take of, as they only come of in small pieces.

I also took my pillion pegs of as well :)

Mmmmm nieeeece. Although I woulda gone for gold Pazzo's and twin Akro cans ;)

Piss the pillion pegs off, some gold Sato rearsets and a dark tinted Puig screen (Puig is the only way to go IMHO) and you'll be rockin'

Looks shit hot though. I've been thinking of these things a bit lately :o

Yeah oggies will flip it in a simply low side.

:rolleyes:do you ride ? oggy's are not for low side or any other come off for that matter, there there for a simple drop from standing as for doing more damage:doh:if your coming of at speed thats the least of your worries toddler78.

Yeah mate I ride and have had a serious crash thanks for asking. If you take it to track days I would suggest you take em off unless you wanna totally F@ck your new bike. :)

Oggy Knobs are fine for street use where they are designed to protect bodywork in the event of a low speed lowside.

I dont want to start a shit fight about oggy knobs as this thread is about a top bike, but yes I do ride too, in fact I raced for many years in a support catagry for the Aus superbikes around the country, this is just my personal opinion based on experience both of my own and of watching fellow competitors.

A simple low speed low side, yes will not cause much damage, as long as the bike stays on the road. but lets face it a crash in this curcanstance is not common. If the bike travels off into gravel, sand, dirt, grass(effectly the side of the road) then yes the possibitly of the bike cartwheeling and destroying itself is a distinct posiblity.(sirited riding through hills?)

What you have to understand is that yes oggy knobs are designed to protect the fairing, BUT at the expensive of bending the frame, The amount of bike I saw cartwheel whislt racing because of oggy knobs was amazing but also the amount of bikes that I saw with oggys that didnt cartwheel and look otherwise ok had the frame punched in where the oggy once ws (as it had also ben snapped off) Yes I have crashed on the road AND on the track, many times and at high speed (over 200kmh) and high sides, I have never had my bike flip, why probably ALOT of luck especialy the high side

sorry to take thread off topic

i thought oggys were only ment to save your engine cases?

sorry yes that too, like I said this is only my personal preferance, I also dont like steering dampners people call me crazy but thats me, I like a little head shake.
The main plan is to not bin it. and you wont need to worry.

Had you had it out at a track day yet? it would definatly be a nice bike to punt around a phillip island or eastern creek

Nice bike

good to see you modified it the way you wanted it.

did you take the time to get the power comander fine tuned on a dyno and then tested on the street?

I'm with Toddler rip off the oggy knobs they cause more damage than they save most of the time. especially on the r6/r1 due to the location points. I say this as a mate laided his down the other day and the oggy knobs flipped the bike and him into a guard rail. (result smashed bike, shattered foot, fractured leg and arm)

some of the other bikes allow for the oggy knobs to bend inwards as they hit the road taking alot of the impact rather than the frame. guess it depends which ones you bought but if they go into the frame directly rather than on a plate that can give you stand a greater chance of bending the front part of the frame.

Also try not to upset mr plod as the mod to the rear number plate area is classed as a structual change and fails to comply with the adr. Cops going nuts over here in SA at the moment and have funding for another month aparently.

Enjoy it and keep it rubber side down:)

Ok now tear all the unecessary bits off and head to the track where you can really ride these suckers , anthing under a 1:45 at phillip island will get your attention. Then buy a nice GSX1400 for the road and there you have it the perfect pair (although personal pref would have had me the 08 GSXR1000)
