Holden has released a dealer bulletin that has given access to Chev badges and grilles to Holden dealers.

So be prepared for the prices to drop and the ebay profiteering to slow down.

I will post up some part numbers later.

Hrrrm, Dont know weather this is good or bad. :(

Never really supported the idea of fitting chev grlles or badges to a HOLDEN Commodore.

Now every man and his dog will have one, including P platers in fully sick, flogged to death V6's

Holden obviously saw there was a market in Chev badges for commodores, Good on em I say. Although I'm not a fan of putting Chev badges on a Commodore I do admit that they do look quite aesthetically pleasing compared to the Holden badge.

The only problem I have with the Holden Badge on the VE`s , is the sheer size of it . They are huge. I can understand why some owners want to put on a Chev emblem.

Yup, I saw some at Young's Holden spare parts in Vic Park WA yesterday. Was quite surprised actually

I'm keepin my Holden badges on. If they're good enough for the HRT cars they're good enough for mine :)
The furthest I would go is maybe spray the front one black.

Yeah, Chev badges will always look better that the huge Holden ones, but I wouldnt put them on because the one on the boot is good for pressing down on to close the boot, I dont want to change my wheel caps as well, dont want to change the airbag cover on the steering wheel, and change just about anything else that has the Holden badge on it. If I did have a Chev badge on the boot, it probably would get nicked by some thief and same goes for the centre caps. The only thing I could possibly consider would be the front Chev grille and take the boot one off and leave it bare. I will probably leave it as is though. Normally if you start changing badges it never ends, that is until theyre all done.

Holden obviously did some sums on how many dollars the market is worth and thought they may as well get a piece of that action(even though they control it).
Similar to WP offering tunes and exhausts which the HSV or Holden brands could never do

GM engine.
GM gearbox.
GM holden body.
GM holden interior.
GM holden manufacture.
GM holden suspension.
GM holden global large car architecture.

I think it's co-operative that Holden have released other GM brand badges for sale.

Never understood it really. You should be proud to own a Holden.

I dont think its about not being proud to be a holden. Its just like when you change your wheels. Do you retain the holden centre caps with ones that fit, or do you just stick with whatever comes with the wheels, whether it be a ROH or SIMMONS cap. Youre car isnt a ROH car or a SIMMONS car, it just has those wheels. If you have an LS1 EDIT sticker on your car does it mean the car was made LS1 EDIT, no it means you probably got a tune there. So having said that, if you put CHEV badges on your car, it doesnt mean it was made by CHEVROLET, it just has their engine in it. You kappish. (understand):)

Personally I don't like it. Chev badges should stay on Chevs. I wonder if yanks re-badge their G8, or GTO as a Holden?

VLs probably have more Nissan parts, than late model Commodores have Chev parts, but you never see Nissan badges on them.

People on the US and UK forums are swapping Pontiac or Vauxhall badges for Holden badges.
It's called customisation, which is the PERSONAL choice of the owner. I see it as being no different to fitting a boot spoiler, aftermarket rims or de-badging a car.
This question just keeps going around and around and around in circles...

It is all about personalisation and what the owner wants, not what the observer/onlooker likes or wants.

They ran out of grilles this morning, with no outlook for more stock! Can;t remember the rear badge situation.
Only dealers with stock already allocated or supplied will have any soon.

after looking at the catalogue that was put up, it looks like you can get just the VE Grill badge as well as the whole grille.

NEver been a fan of changing but have to admit that the current holden badge is too big. At the end of the day, the manufacturer puts a chev badge on for a different Market so can't see why it is a problem.

I think its a good thing holden are selling the sellng chev badges

and here's my thoughts and opinion on the whole thing...

I think that 90% of the people that are putting chev badges on are not doing it because the want it to be a chev.....
they are putting them on because its a little bit different, like putting on aftermarket wheels, or modding the interior etc...

Yes they are becoming more and more popular, but come on.... they do look good.

Personally i hate badges... i prefer my cars to have none at all, my SSC will have all of them removed shortly. But that just my preference!
Because i dont like badges i am considering having a Chev grill as its far more discreet than the massive holden item.....

I am not trying to talk up the fact my engine is a chev, because its not.. its a GM

Someone having a hsv kit on a non hsv.. does that say its a hsv? no... they just want their car to look different from the norm and its their own style of taste which their quite entitled too have... not everyone should have to "fit in" with those who like the norm.

can I ask what the difference between discussing it in here or the other threads is?........yes DickieKnee posted up the part numbers, and that's great, and those numbers are still there for everyone to see! if anything by commenting in this thread which is the most recent thread about Chev badges it keeps the numbers near the top of the forum page.

by your standards if someone posts some information about the FG Falcon we cant debate whether we like it or not.....just doesn't really make sense to me! which threads are we allowed to express or opinions in and which ones are we not allowed to say what we think?

DickieKnee made a topic with some useful info but he never said we weren't able to express our opinions on the items discussed!

i also noticed you only appeared to delete posts from my side of the debate.....the guys who stated that they like the Chev badges dont seem to have any posts deleted!

Any dealer can sell them to you, but unless they actually have them on the shelf, Holden have run out of all the SS stuff, so you might have to wait 3 or 4 weeks for stock. That will be your cheapest option (if you can wait).

can I ask what the difference between discussing it in here or the other threads is?........yes DickieKnee posted up the part numbers, and that's great, and those numbers are still there for everyone to see! if anything by commenting in this thread which is the most recent thread about Chev badges it keeps the numbers near the top of the forum page.

by your standards if someone posts some information about the FG Falcon we cant debate whether we like it or not.....just doesn't really make sense to me! which threads are we allowed to express or opinions in and which ones are we not allowed to say what we think?

DickieKnee made a topic with some useful info but he never said we weren't able to express our opinions on the items discussed!

i also noticed you only appeared to delete posts from my side of the debate.....the guys who stated that they like the Chev badges dont seem to have any posts deleted!

but yes maybe I should have created yet another thread on the same topic, im sure that would have been a great idea!

Very well made points there.
I wouldn't expect an explanation as it is typical over-zealous moderation. The forum is generally so well behaved that I think the moderators get itchy trigger fingers :stick:

It is a controversial issue and that's why there are multiple threads. People won't read them if they don't want to write about it.

What was I thinking posting this thread here.

I was trying to inform those that want these badges that the prices and black market could be comming to an end and it turns in to another " Why I hate chev badges on commodores thread." :soap: ( So glad I started this thread instead of posting in the part numbers thread).....

For those of you who feel the need to vent look at what hapened here (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=59761)

What I was trying to point out is that this argument has been done to death and normaly ends up with the thread being closed.

I would have like to have seen this thread used the same way the old engine cover thread was, listing any supply issues and letting anyone posting there local dealers pricing to advise other members of any good deals going.

It's an old argument and I'm over it. If the thread gets cluttered with why I hate chev badge posts or closed so be it.

This forum isn't that well behaved. There have been a fair few c0cks on here in recent times...
All you are doing is questioning the "umpires decision", which in sport will usually get you a penalty against your name.
Unless you get seriously abusive, the moderators don't tend to dish out penalties (like suspensions and so forth), so I think they actually stay in the background most of the time!

If you like these grilles and badges, go fit them and be happy, as you intend to be.
If you DON'T like them, shut the f#ck up people, FFS.
It's an individuals decision, not YOURS.
ANYONE that thinks they have a right to comment on the taste or otherwise of peoples customisation should AUTOMATICALLY be open to ridicule on their own mods. So, if you bag chev grilles, but have the worlds ugliest 20 inch chrome wheels on your car for example, you should be man enough to cop the criticism. If you can't, don't say anything about anyone elses!
I agree with Dickie Knee. This subject and been covered so many times it has been done to death.

Make it a sticky so people can use it as a reference, delete all replies then lock it. problem solved! :)

Gee that will be good. I bought a Chev Grille on Ebay for what I thought was a bargain $80. Only turns out when I get it , it is made of Fibreglass and doesnt fit ! Talk about ripped off !!
