Just quickly before I commit, I seem to recollect the VE SSV wheels could be modified to suit the earlier model VY, VZ etc. Can someone please confirm for me if this is correct?

VE wheels can be made to fit vy's/ They just machine the wheel to fit. Check out NVU or holmart they both sell ve wheels machined to ft vy's. I have seen a few cars with them on and they llok great.

I quite like the 18" VE SS wheel on a VY. Looks much better than the SSV rim imo.

boyley,

I just fitted a set of VE SSV wheels with Nexen 245/35/19's to my VY SV8 and they fit perfectly. Of course they have to be machined but I bought them pre-machined are a great fit. I'm putting up pics in the next few days of it. :)

As my issue is similar I thought I'd also use this thread.
I have a set of 20" VE SuperSport (genuine Holden) wheels in my shed. Ordered them one day, got t-boned the next day. So while I work out the iinsurance and repair I need a question answered.

I have a 03 (VY) Monaro and I need to know if these wheels fit on without any body modifications. Every one I talk to is giving me a different answer.

So - do I need to roll the guards to fit these VE 20's on?

Do I also need to remove the plastic inner guard liners?

Will they fit around the standard front struts?

I'm sure I'm getting the advice that would more suit say aftermarket wheels with a big dish and different offset. But I don't want to try out my wheels if the advice is indeed correct because I have previously slashed a set of new tyres (on new rims - made it about 10km) with un-rolled guards (HT GTS) and I'm not looking for a repeat performance!

Any advice welcome!!

Finally got a picture of the new wheels on the car so here is a before and after pic of the SV8.

To get the right ride height I actually ended up having to put King Superlows in the front and Lows in the rear. It sits perfectly for me now and still has good ground clearance which is a must as it's my daily driver.

Most people find it hard to believe that it runs 11's with the stock engine and it leaves a fair share of people in it's wake when it wants to. ;) Is your ute already lowered? I lowered mine the other day after fitting the wheels and had to put superlows in the front and lows in the rear to make it sit right. See how you go with yours but will look awesome also. :)

Thanks Wonky, I hated the original wheels also on the SV8's. These wheels are a similar style so mosts people dont notice a big change but it totally transforms the car in my opinion. :)

Yep thats them! Do I need to modify my arches / inner guards / struts so they fit a VY?

Here is the ute fitted with Maxxis 19/35/245's and VEssv wheels, total cost 2k. I was worried the original lowering I had done would not be sufficient for the new package, but now I am quite happy. Brett I originally lowered the vehicle all round by 40mm I think.

Thanks for your opinion mate. I intend installing coil-overs in the near future so I can adjust the ride height. You see I have to carry loads occasionally so the rear has to stay high for now.

I am waiting on HBD to develop the rear for the VY ute, then its adjust and go.:smilesandbanana:

Thats fair enough mate. I'll most likely be putting coil overs in my SS
