Might be of interset to members, although I didn't realise that Fisherman's Bend was full of so many Pontiac engineers...
Sorry if posted earlier as search came up nil.

Quite a positive review. I liked their comment on the Lego gauges - "suddenly it's 1982!". They obviously like them as much as we do.... :spew:

Nice vid in there too. Thanks for the link!
Good to see the main gripes we have with the car are felt the world over too. One thing I found odd was the mention of the upshift and downshift being the wrong way round. Why would theirs be any different?

Yeah, I wondered that too! Bloody yanks!!
Speaking of which (off topic, sorry) I absolutely love the new Comm Bank ads with the f*wits from the American ad agency who have absolutely no idea what wankers they are - so typical!! :lmao:

Does look nice with the SSV lights and the rear lip as opposed to the large spoiler.
Anyone notice the shorter aerial also, looks much better than the Johhny Holmes Bee Sting Aerial Holden have on the VE.

Get ready for aftermarket parts to suddenly become cheaper

Motor Trend and Car and Driver have their reviews up, too. Plus Car and Driver and Edmunds also have comparisons to the Charger R/T (fastback version of the 5.7 300C). All of them are pretty positive and the comparos both went to the G8.
All these online mags praised the GTOs performance but basically didn't like the exterior, so the fact they all rate it as good or better than the Dodge is a hopeful sign. A lot of forums over there are abuzz, the interesting thing is the 'old skool' musclecar mob are grumpy about it (never change), but the import forums including German tend to be positive on balance.

The performance comparisons showing the G8 being only just slower than the similar weight but much more powerful (on paper) Dodge seem to echo the thoughs on other threads that Holdens 270kw rating may be a tad conservative, to falsly indicate a bigger gap to the more expensive LS2 cars.

Interesting review - will the Yanks get an LS2/3 option for the G8 (from memory that car is based on an SS-V with L98)?
Either way the price is very nice - including sunroof, leather and bigger wheels, recommended price US$32,745 = AU$35,249 on current exchange rates. Bastards.

The G8 GT is based on the SSV, the G8 will be/is based on the Berlina.
I hope they sell heaps of em, will lower the price of go fast bits over here as with our competitive dollar we should be able to get stuff cheaper form the states.
Cheers

Love the bonnet scoops, I wonder how hard the bonnet would be to fit to an SSV?

It wont, the G8 bonnet uses a different grill, actually it is the entire front bar.

Yes, but as you said above, there'll be a heap of aftermarket parts available. Some mob in the US will sell the SSV bumper kit over there with a combination bonnet with scoops to fit. So all you'd need to do is buy the scooped bonnet that would become available. ;)

I just wrote to their editor in chief saying i enjoyed the article except for the fact it doens't make very good mention of the fact the car is Australian-built AND Australian-designed.
Asked for some credit where credit is due...
Hope he replies

The artcle has a link to the Australian built part (is that a change?) The price is pretty reasonable too.
