HI Guys,

I have just got a car of Vic Police with no VIN plates at all. VicRoads:jester: is issuing me with new VIN numbers soon but they have told me to get the VIN stamped on the car.

Hence I need to find the VIN location on a VT Calais(underneath somewhere I presume) and the Engine number on a 5lt V8.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

VIN number is usually visible on the windscreen in a bottom corner, otherwise check the strut towers and top of the firewall.

As for the Engine Number, on the old 5L's, it was at the near the front of the motor above the exhaust outlets on the driver sides, it will be stamped into the metal.

As I said all vin plates have been removed - windscreen, firewall, nosecone. There is no vin stamped on the strut towers either. So the factory stamp must be located elsewhere.

Will look for the engine number on the front.

Thanks

Very close.

Found it at the front on the passenger side.:)

VIN should be stamped into the chassis, below the plastic trim next to the drivers seat.

Pretty sure the VIN is stamped on the floor under the carpet below the drivers seat. Later models had a little cut out in the carpet so you could see it but don't think the VT did.

He said it's a VT. The VIN wasn't put on the floor until around the series 2 change of VX.

Primary VIN on a VT is on the plate at the bottom left of the windscreen, there's no stamped VIN as such, well not for everyone to know about anyway. :eyes:

Engine number on a 5 litre is passenger side, front of block, visible from above.
