 Well handled by the aircrew, however.

Looks like airport should probably have been closed at that stage.

Yeah that is pretty scary stuff. Hats off to the pilots, they did well to save it.
Not as scary, but I once had a landing in Seattle where the plane had no flaps control.... thus we had to land at very high speed....... always scary seeing fire engines chasing after you as you land!!!!!

Here's a bigger one doing the same trick:

:teach: This, children, is why pilots are not just 'button pushers'
Some fantastic flying there.

That would have scared the crap outta me as well.
I was once on a DC 9 that bounced down the runway @ Jojakarta in Java because the pilot came in too bloody fast. The plane hit the runway so hard I am amazed the wings didn't snap off !!! There was lots of yelling going on in the cockpit after we came to a stop and I am sure someone got reamed for the stuff up.
This was the same thing that happened to the Jet that crashed at that airport last year killing some Aussies on board.
I have been on some really scary plane rides, all of them in Asia. Overloaded planes that struggled to gain altitude were a real worry as well as landing without instruments in cloud in the mountains in Laos were fun as well. The pilot had to drop in between gaps in the clouds to maintain a visual so as not to hit the cliffs and mountain peaks that we were going through.:bawl:
Never Again !!!
I watched a mechanic start an engine on a plane I was on using a battery pack and some spray. He then made some adjustments then sent us on our way. The bloody engine vibrated and smoked all the way to Pnohm Penh. I was sitting adjacent to the prop and was sure it was going to fly through the fuselage at some point.
747's all the way for me now, no more old russian planes.
cheers

Same here, this is why I always fly the most well known airlines, and the best planes with British/Aus/NZ/US Pilots. Its not worth the risk.
