That would depend on crate size, gross weight, and whether you want, Road, Express or Tailgate service.

Depending upon your needs, there are different companies that specialize in different methods...

I just went through this with getting tyres here. In short you need a account to make it a price that is reasonable. Even with a account with TNT it was ridiculous price. It all depends on the deal you can make opening the account.
I saw a company on e-bay a bloke selling a used Ls1 and he was saying the price to freight the engine city to city was about $250. He has a deal and a account obviously. There is some threads on here but when you do a search and get the quotes do not be surprised you can not get the price they got.

I went Shaws transport in the end but they do depot to depot and city to city only. Still a bit costly but better than most for a individual.

I reckon TNT make up their prices as they go
Last year I got 4 rims and tyres from east for $125.00
2 months later I wanted diff rims and I got charged $280.00 for rims only ???
Work that one out

Diesel prices = fuel surcharge of roughly 10%.

And you probably struck an operator who worked on net weight rather than gross...

Might give you some ideas. Check on e-bay under engines and there is several companies that the people on there use. Just found one called air trans. I presume has has a account as fright to anywhere in Aus was $355 for a V6.

Let me know how you go and if you get a decent price.

You really need to provide more info to get a good idea on this.
My brother is the despatch manager at his work, and he can string off about 20 different freight companies that are "the best", all depending on exactly which parts of Australia this is going to/from!
Some options can be around half the price of others, but go in a different direction, and that cheap one suddenly become twice as dear in the other direction...
