Hey guys I just cant decide which path to go. I want to do a brake upgrade but still be able to fit stockos over the brakes. I was thinking the molycarbide + greenstuff all round, however im also wondering if the dba4000 series is a better option. I have been through the brake review thread but everyone likes both.

Do 15s fit over the ssz brakes? As I might even go this way yet.

Thanks guys,
Dan

Being a ute. I'd upgrade the fronts to a proper set of brakes, something like a 4 piston AP set up or something and put some decent pads in the rear.

I think saj has a similar setup to this. 6 piston Willwoods on the front and stockers on the rears.

You'll still be able to fit 15's on the rear and have very good braking ability.

That sort of blows the budget a bit, what is the best brakes to fit under 17s then? I may be going 18s but i still put the 17s on for highway driving as the roads out here are terrible.:vpo:

Molycarbides front/rear + Ferodo excel pads working nicely on my wagon.

vt2vx has the combo you're considering fitted to his sedan ... send him a PM.

Brake upgrades that will fit under 17" wheels.

HSV/Harrop premium brakes 343mm front and 315 or 343mm rear.
PBRPK1 / HSV upgrade with 330m fronts and 315mm rears.

There may be others as well

Ok im thinking I need to get my hands on a set of ssz calipers, then go and get some DBA4000 discs to suit. Are the rear calipers on an ssz bigger than std or is it just fronts?

No the rears were standard size but ventilated, so different pads needed as they are thicker than the solid rear disks.

And the 320mm SSZ/Thunder brake system is pretty good for street with something like Ultimates (brake dust) or 2500s etc.

Definitely a good option. Have the SSZ setup on my car (via Garry) and the difference over original system is quite noticable.

OK how much will i be looking at to get new ssz calipers for the front, and 4 new discs all round. I was quoted 2300 for the kit with 4 new calipers, and discs all round with braided lines, but i cant afford that much.

You can buy 330mm/315mm HSV brake kits complete on ebay for around $1650.

For $2300 for that kit you'd be getting ripped.

Yep still alive Garry. Just a lazy! Hopefully I'll pull the finger soon and get more involved.

SS_fifty - hunt around for second hand. It's not really worth it to buy the calipers from Holden.
