CV8Z was a limited run of the last generation Monaros (with the bonnet scoops). I dont know all the details but it had its own wheels with CV8-Z milled out on one spoke.

There were 2 runs of CV8-R Models (i think a series 2 and series 3) With exclusive paint, wheels, The first CV8-Rs are one of my favs. Wicked Wheels, Tinted Tailights,Dark Grey Paint, Light(almost white) leather interior.

The second was Red with a few red patches in the interior, and i think had a sunroof too.

CV8Rs were Series II specials made in 2003 and Series III 2004. Mechanically they were identical to the same year Monaro. They had special blackout wheels, white-faced CV8R instruments, blackout badges and colour, with some interior trim differences - 2003 had a light Shale interior and unique exterior colour. The 2004 had a sunroof and was the same colour as the Pulse Red 2004 GTO.

The CV8Z was a 'limited' version of the 2005 CV8 VZ Monaro, actually made in the same numbers as the normal VZ (1600 each)! Special finish/engraved wheels, sunroof, gunmetal badges, some other extras. Available in the same colours.

ah thanks for the input!

so basicly the Rs are our 2004 GTOs and Zs are 2005 -2006 GTOs well to some point the interiors are differant etc. but basicly the kinda the same idea.

did the Rs come with Ls2?

oh and were the scoops always black on the CV8Z?

No R's didn't come with the LS2. None of the Monaro model's came with the LS2 except the later model HSV's.

And yeah, they scoops where always black on the CV8Z's but the normal CV8's had colour coded scoops.

ah ok... so the HSV models were done after the last production of the CV8Z?

as far as the LS2 i guess that sence why i keep seeing all these posts about how they wish they would have gotten the LS2 here... or should i say there...lol!

All Monaros only had LS1s, although the VZ one got the fbw throttle, extra tuning, split exhaust and lumpier cam along with the lower-ratios in the trans which gave it 350hp and a requirment for premium fuel.

HSV Z-model GTOs from late 2004 got the LS2, they ran alongside the Monaros just as the Clubsports etc ran alongside the SS with LS1. Last HSV GTOs were built I think April 2006, so earlier than the last Pontiacs.

One of the differentiation points between Holden and HSV is HSV always gets the premium motor, SS gets the standard fuel L98 as per the G8's L76 and not the LS2/soon to be LS3.

LS1 is plenty of performance and still quicker than 90% of cars you're ever going to meet over here.

ah i think that is what i noticed. the fbw on some photos i saw made me think... oh ls2? so it got me a bit confused when i saw that. cuz here, all the ls2 have the crappy fbw.. i'd take cable anytime! i think i'm just use to a holley carb! lol!

gud info and reading!

thanks

one more question.... someone was asking on this end of the world.

what does the C stand for in CV8? the V8 must be well.. it's a V8 right? and the Z stands for what? just another designation for a version like Type R or something? just wondering?
