01 Maloo (Newb)

Hi guys
I just got given an 01 vu Maloo, now I've insured it but not sure what exactly it is
R8 or not, VU or VUII how do you tell
well its black
black leather
6 spd mnl
hard rear cover
-------------------------------

it's also got a couple of issues
traction control not working
and neither is the cruise control, are these things common

if it is a genuine HSV maloo it'll have a build plate under the bonnet on the radiator support panel...
that'll give you a few details about the car, like its build number, the model it was, the colour, stuff like that...

without that plate there's a very good chance it isn't genuine...
if it doesn't have an R8 badge, i'd say its not an R8...

i think the easyest way to tell is the cruise contols are different i think the s1 has butons to activate it and the s2 has a noob you turn to set ect ect i could be wrong

its got the plate i'm just not sure on the other details

the cruise is on the indicator stalk, the dash light shows but cruise don't work

should have made it a bit clearer but I gave him a seadoo jet boat

none of the utes got traction control until the VZ Maloo, so that is why yours is probably not working.:confused:

R8 got hard cover standard, with spoiler - maloo got soft tarp.

s2 started in august i think it was
s2 has the round blinker /cruze stalk
s1 has the square type
and the headlights had the black surround on the s2
s1 had chrome

no, i looked into that as well but im pretty sure the plug where it mounts to the column is all different.

Like always with this question, and it keeps getting asked over and over, just take your VIN to your dealer parts dep't, and they can print you off a detailed options sheet for your car from Microcat.
Identifying via physical changes is unreliable, as many people change things over time.
