That is the question boys and girls..

as my misses has semi let the cat out of the bag that shes gonna get me my GROMMZ plates for my VE as a birthday present..

So i ask those who have personalised plates should i get both front and rear as slimline or just the 1 of each option were the bigger plate goes on the rear ?

Obviously either way im getting slimline on the front but if anyone has pics of slimline on the rear thatd be good to see to..

cheers
James

I'd get slim all round.. If your gonna (or she's gonna) pay that much you want something different than the large size.

I went large on rear and slimline on front on my ve, I think the large on the rear looks better.

Definitely one of each, Slimline on the front and std at the rear.

While I haven't looked specifically at the VE, I do hate seeing mounting holes all over the rear of the car because the slimline plates simply don't cover them.

That's a plus then. But I still hate the way the plate gets lost in that section. Each to his own though.

Slimline rears are illegal in ACT and NSW AFAIK :(

I prefer slim front and rear though (but I can't have it like that).

Speaking of plates though, does anyone know where I can get a number plate protector/holder whereby the mounts don't require the number plate. i.e. the back of the holder mounts/srews to the car and the cover mounts to the rear part of the holder (snap locked or clamped or whatever). The number plate sits in the holder. That way I can get my plates remade with no holes in them :D

Kids got me personalised plates for my birthday, I got the normal sized ones, the larger one definetly looks better on the rear, the slimline look too small for the panel they mount on, at first I thought wish they had got me 1 of each but after seeing them on the car I prefer the larger plates - the 'VICTORIA' looks better spelt out along the bottom of the plate rather than just 'VIC' abbrev. in the vertical format, also mine are Black and White and they look more like the old style B&W Vic plates, every 2nd new car has slimline these days so nothing special about them, just my opinion, definetly the large on the rear though.

If it doesn't expose any mounting holes, definately slimline all round, The bolder print on ths slimlines work really well.

Plus the fact that the larger ones say 'Victoria the place to be' :spew:

My 2c :)

So I take it that you can get a slim/normal combination in vic like you can in NSW? I just registered in VIC and got slims but the one on the back of my wagon leaves the bottom mounting holes exposed ... grrrr.

I've been looking for a number plate cover that is the normal size with mounting holes/screws in the cover itself, and then holds the slimline vic plate in the middle with a thicker band/frame top and bottom.

Has anyone seen one of these?

Definately slim front, normal rear. Have mine slime front & back, & I had to modify the mounting bracket on the rear to get the plate in a decent position...

Hope that works. Sorry it's so dark, just went & got a photo then but don't have much light around. I can get another one tomorrow if you need.
The bracket that holds the number plate on is upside down, could only just get the alan key in to do the srews up.

This is interesting as I hadn't considered how 4 digit slimline plates would look on the back of a VE - they look okay on my VY ute but with the large arese rear of the VE it might look lost.

Anyone have photos of vic slimline plates on the rear?

On the Monaro, I've got a full size on the back and slimline on the front, looks great.

Peronalised slimline plates look good on the back of a VE IMO dont really get lost like others say

Definately need to be vertically centred (like Bazza's) though I'm not sure how my 4 digit slimline plates will look on the back...

4 days to go, then I'll know for sure:)

The Slimline both ends = looks sleek = just whether in the state you live in allows it though = Whatever you decide will be good at the end of the day = it's what you want.
