who it from FF and the text below:

Okay, this is all i know about what happened. I work at Stillwells here in Adelaide. It was not an employee. The driver had been reported before the accident for street racing, at the time of the crash he was racing a statesman, came round the small bend, and the back end came out, hit the statesman, and he lost control. The statesman kept goin, and was later charged with street racing and leaving the scene of an accident. The driver was charged with street racing and dangerous driving, insurance didnt cover the accident. 12 cars on the stillwell hyundai yard were written off. The driver had minor cuts and bruises, and his girlfriend walked away unharmed. The ute just missed (by less than a second) a employee of stillwells, walking to her car.

Looking at that crease on the roofline, which I assume is where the pole hit, his girlfriend is VERY lucky to walk away unharmed

fire truck attends cause its pretty serious and they are there just incase any flammable liquids are leaking, looks like he either was racing in peak hour traffic either in the morning or arvo, main north road gets pretty busy

I guess they didn't buy that car!

Is insurance void because of street racing charges? Is that the same in all states

Hmm, there's not really a bend in that road, its next to dead straight ! (look at the 2nd and 3rd pictures)

Looks to be in the afternoon/early evening, that road is generally pretty damn busy, lucky others wernt involved, street racing or not :S

There was a similar incident where someone ended up putting a clubsport up on top of a few other holdens at "Plaza Holden" here a few years back , apparently after being chased by the police.

yeah but that dealer is far lower than the road so im not suprized, but on main north road where this happened its flat as a pancake. Look like he drove off the top of a car loader truck dukes of hazzard style to launch the ute on top of the commodore.

Not trying to be a pain but I think if it was a suspension failure and he was actually obeying the road rules in this "busy" street, I doubt that he would've gotten that much air and done that much damage to his own car let alone the others.

Is insurance void because of street racing charges? Is that the same in all states

when my EH was hit and an XR6T ute that was in for work at my dads shop carpark, the guys insurance wouldnt pay because he was charged for reckless driving. Dads insurance paid and are now chasing the driver for their money, and dad didnt lose his no claim bonus. i would say all states are the same. This driver must have been moving...

So can someone please explain to me, if his insurance was void, does this mean he is now held liable for damage to all 12 of the written off cars or just his own?

I.e. has he just bought 12 hyundais out of his hip pocket or does CTP cover them?

Fark, that's pretty bad. Lucky to walk away from that one. People like this should lose the license for good. What about the poor innocent people that could have been walking along the road at the time?? FFS

There was one in QLD, similar to this, also where the young guy was test driving a later model HSV, came around the corner, gave it a gut full and ended perched ontop of about 3 cars. One of which was a BMW!! Wasn't as high speed as this though, but still pretty bad.

Driver from hell hits jail
By Leanne Edmistone

"I hope you're not afraid of a bit of speed. I'm qualified to drive like
this"

IT was the high-speed test drive from hell that ended with two
passengers in hospital and an award-winning car salesman going to jail.
On September 16, 2003, David and Renee Galvin, of Samford, went to
Eagers Newstead dealership interested in a Monaro but were convinced
by salesman Chris Ponturo to take a spin around Brisbane's docks area in a Holden HSV.

Ponturo explained the features of the car and then, heading into the
quieter semi-industrial area, he turned to Renee Galvin and said: ``I
hope you're not afraid of a bit of speed. It's all right, I'm qualified
to drive like this.''

Ponturo then accelerated hard, forcing the Galvins back into their seats.
Ponturo continued to accelerate, taking a bend at speed and heading
along a narrow street lined by parked cars.

There, the car slammed into a utility making a u-turn, and continued
along the road before bouncing along a wooden fence. It then hit a
parked car before coming to rest against a small tree. Airbags had
activated and the windscreen was smashed.

Police collision analysts later calculated the HSV reached 103km/h in a
60-zone when it hit the ute.

Ponturo used his phone to tell someone he had ``had a cracker of an
accident'' then turned to Renee Galvin and -- apparently oblivious to
her injuries -- said: ``I'm going to be in so much trouble at work, look
what I've done to the car''.

Yesterday Ponturo, supported by his wife and a colleague, pleaded guilty
in the Brisbane District Court to dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
causing grievous bodily harm to Renee Galvin.

Crown Prosecutor Victoria Trafford-Walker said Renee Galvin had to be
cut from the car and was treated for a spinal fracture, fractured
sternum, soft-tissue bruising to her foot and minor cuts.

She spent a month in hospital and another three months in a full body brace.
The mother of two had chronic back pain and had been assessed by medical
experts to have lost between 15 and 22 per cent of her total body function
because of the spinal fracture. David Galvin, a firefighter, suffered only minor injuries.

The court heard Ponturo had a significant traffic history that included
several offences for speeding, including two after this accident.
Defence barrister Michael Byrne, QC, said his client was remorseful and
had suffered considerably himself through prosecution delays in bringing
the matter to court.

Judge Milton Griffin said Ponturo had an ``unenviable'' driving history
and had shown ``deliberate recklessness'' in his driving, which led to
the accident.

Ponturo cried as Judge Griffin sentenced him to 18 months' jail, to be
suspended after serving four months for an operational period of three
years.

He was disqualified from holding a driver's licence for three years.
Outside court, the Galvins said they still could find no explanation for
Ponturo's driving behaviour on the day.

``It was like being on a ride at an amusement park,'' David Galvin said.
The Galvins didn't buy a HSV. They bought a Volvo. ``It's nice and
safe,'' said a smiling Renee Galvin yesterday.

That's a cracker of a story C4B.

It's a pity Mrs Galvin has to live with the consequences of the dealer's stupid driving her whole life.

Two tonnes of metal and a big motor demand respect!

I think everyone is getting their Clubsport stories mixed up. This is the one that was originally being referred to.... from Victoria (Watsons Holden Bundoora).

the phots dont show the dealer in the background pounding on the cars he cant sell with a bit mallot:rofl:

to the poster on the previous page re insurance, yep he is screwed he is responsable for ALL DAMAGE ie his car, all cars damaged in the lot, any street signs or council areas he damaged, and the guard rail and other dealer property he damaged. he may as well take one good last look at that car, as he wont have to worry about not having a licence he wont even be able to afford rollerskates until he 205:rofl:
