NO, I didn't get to keep her, the missus took me to Australia Zoo for the 'Cheetah Walk' that they do. They do it with tigers as well but they are booked out for 3 months and twice the price, probably because they are tonnes more dangerous and as such, require more handlers with tranquilizers to subdue them in case they get angry.

'Cleo' however, was just like a normal domestic cat, but BIGGER!

Yeah its a great experience! My mrs and i did it a few years ago at the canberra zooquarium highly recommend it if you havnt done it already. Some great shots there too its funny how they purr like a domestic cat as well we got to play with three of them and kick a football for them to retrieve.

There were 3 handlers with us at all times and she was on a leash which they kept very taught. There were actually quite a few rules to abide by: don't touch her head/feet/legs/neck - pretty much her back and tail only. When you approach her, do it from behind (shut up all you sickos:nono:) so she can't eye you off as food (:shock:), when you pat her, do it firm, to light and she'll think you're a fly and try to swat you off, and believe me, you don't want that paw swinging at you!

But with regards to doing what she wanted, they take them for a walk every morning, so the morning we did it was nothing out of the ordinary for her, and she just looked around at things, she actually looked pretty bored really!

Another (funny) thing, I asked the handlers if they would attack a human in the wild, and she said that a cheetah would run away from a healthy human, cos they don't know that they could rip one apart, a tiger on the other hand, wouldn't take a second thought. But the interesting thing was, cheetahs WILL go for people on crutches/wheelchairs and CHILDREN :shock: any sort of weak prey, if you will. And it all made sense once they explained that, because the whole time we were walking around with her, everytime there were children in view, her gaze was fixed on the children, kinda reminds you that they are still wild animals huh.

Definately mate :D it was a case of 'don't touch her head', 'don't walk right past her face as you might startle her', 'no sudden movements' etc.

Although as tame and placid as she looked, I'd hate to even think about how hard 'Cleo' would've dragged those girls around if she wanted something bad enough!

That looks awsome. I have done a similar thing with tigers in Thailand, not so many rules though. It was with some buddhist monks, at a place called Tiger Temple. Cant remember the Thai name but definetly worth a visit if you go over there, being able to watch 3 tiger cubs play was even more amazing, just like normal kittens but heaps bigger.
