This is the usual "what happens when things go wrong driving on the beach". The poor bloke would have had some explaining to do, especially as I don't think insurance covers this sort of thing. I could be wrong though.
Looks like he might have rolled it before the waves came in. Wouldn't imagine the waves would have done all that damage on their own.

It looks like something was dropped on it. Also the stereo has been ripped out? Wouldn't have been a good day!
That's gonna be a pain to get the sand out of......

Everyone keep an eye out for clever and crafty waves trying to sell you a stereo in the shopping centre carpark!

Maybe the car was stolen and taken for a joy ride on the beach? The little bastards may have flogged the stereo. Why else would there be parts of the dash sitting on the seat?

:yup:
I reckon stolen, vandalised, joy ridden (resulting in a rollover on the sand) and then dumped on the beach.
Who the hell would steal a Mitsubishi Triton stereo?

Could have been a very nice aftermarket stereo with DVD and stuff. Triton looks to still have the DIN space that most cars don't have anymore
Getting all CSI, it looks like it's in 4th gear, so it would have been moving!
They will class that as a total write off. Nothing will survive once it's hit sea water.

I think the stoved roof would have written off the car way before sea water became involved

roof crushed = write off in pretty much most cars due to safety and repair bill
there was a similar one when jay and i lauched at lancelin and went to wedge island on our jetskis....on the way back we see some guys on the shore flagging us down
they left there BRAND NEW hilux on the ocean side of the dune...went off with there new wiz bang dirt bikes to find the tide came in, car sunk to the axles, waves splashing up to the height of there door windows...
pretty much a case of grab ur bikes and any gear...leave the car for the ocean and claim insurance...not much u can do

Having lived down there - it does not look a lot like Binningup...
Binningup have Big Ass old Tractors to pull boats, and stuck people out.. This picture shows a Green earth mover..
MAYBE - it was near the site for the new DESAL plant between Binningup / Myalup..
Either way, it's not a gonna....
I don't think carlovers will get all that sand out

Without seeing the vehicle in question, I couldn't say for certain, but I suspect it may have experienced some form of impact to the roof area. :)

If it was mine stuck on a beach with tide rising I would rip the stereo out and trash the interior a little (smash the ignition) leave it there get a mate to take me home ring the police and say ...officer I just went to the garage to find my triton missing please help me find it sir...
No I wouldn't I really am too honest.

maybe a whaleing ship harpooned it from the foreshore reeled it in & as it got closer they realized it was one of their own imports & through it back out to sea & the tide washed it in ?

i thought the exact same thing!!!...
perhaps he's had a stack on the beach playing the fool... realised she'd dead... and thought "root, insurance won't love this... i'll pull the stezza out, smash some dash parts, and walk home then call it up stolen"...

That episode of Top Gear is awsome. I wonder if they got the old hilux off the mantle thing that it is on, put some fresh fuel in wether it would go or not? :)

That damage is caused by the vehicle constantly being rolled over in the water by the waves, notice all the dimpling down the doors etc. I have personally seen and recovered at least 10 vehicles in similar condition over the years from Stockton Beach, with the majority of these having been stolen and driven into the surf. Normally we have to arrange a large excavater from a nearby/local earthmoving company to assist in the recovery of these vehicles. I have seen some that have been so badly rolled by the waves they look like a rubix cube. I'm guessing that the stereo was stolen by either the original thief or passersby and that maybe the gear lever was placed into 4th to facilitate access to the stereo, just my 2 cents.
Cheers
