I would think so. Check with someone at HSV to get confirmation though.

I would be fairly certain that any new car in Australia is required to have an Australian Standards Approved immobiliser fitted nowadays, as part of the recent car-theft reduction strategies and the accompanying ADR requirements that resulted.
This appears to be the current standard:- Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 82/00 - Engine Immobilisers) 2006.
Being an ADR, then manufacturers have to comply with it, so I would go out on a limb and say - YES, your new HSV will comply.

What they are referring to is an immobiliser with a minimum of 2 points of immobilisation and one that automatically arms 30 seconds after ignition off or disarming of system. Absolute pain in the ass to use and own. Requires second remote control in most cases although mongoose makes a map80 upgrade alarm system that works off your factory remote and satisfies shannons requirements, should retail for around $400 fitted.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I was wondering if anyone had had experience with this issue with Justcar for their VE??
Just want to make sure I'm covered but also dont want to fork out $600+ for an Alarm if the factory model is suffice. My philosophy is if that they want the car they'll take the car, alarm or not!!!
Thanks

Thanks mate, the only problem with Justcar is they won't accept anything. They put the onus back on me by saying 'in the event of theft please ensure you have Aust Stan blah blah blah. That obvioulsy means they can still retain discretion if your car is stolen.

I think you're reading too much into it mate. I'm not trying to be flippant - the standard Holden immobiliser fitted to your car complies with the ADRs and is accepted by insurance companies. They would have to have good reason to reject an insurance policy / claim, when you're car has the minimum required standard - UNLESS they stipulate that they will only insure your vehicle with an additional security system, which some may do, dependent upon the particular vehicle and associated risk. In the ordinary course of events with a homegrown, current series car, the standard immobiliser is sufficient.
cheers

I asked JC the same question when I insured with them. They said as long as it has a 2 point immobiliser, you are covered in event of theft. 99% sure VY onwards atleast have a 2 point immobiliser

Any car made after the year 2000 should have an immobiliser fitted standard as it was an ADR requirement.
Insurance companies want to know if you have one fitted, if its that standard thats fine aftermarket ones or alarms are even better.

Your immobiliser is your key, ignition reads code on key when inserted...
