Hi All,

I did a quick search of the forum for this but was unable to find anything thus far.

I did an oil change on my car the 2 days ago.

What I have noticed is that the on dash oil pressure indicator reads 1 bar higher when I first start the car from cold or after a short trip (say 10klm). After I have been driving for about 20mins the meter is stable and doesnt change unless I come to a complete stop where it use to go to 2 bars (at the lights etc).

The meter doesnt go any higher than 5 bars. It sits at 4 bars when just crusing but if you increase the accelerator (not hard) it will jump to 5 bars.
When stopping it used to settle at 2 bars, it only does this after drive for a while.

This is the first time I have seen this as it used to not change from 4 bars at cold start (didnt change when you accelerated) and sit on 2 bars when you stopped (when Hot or cold).

Is there some process I missed when changing the oil?. I didnt remove the filter as it is brand new (1,000klm). The reason I change the oil (from Mobil1 10w30) is I wanted put the Valvoline ProBlend 10w/30 oil back in it which was used in the car from new and used at the previous dealer.

I have reset the oil life indicator and it shows 99% now.

Cheers
Phil

Ya its normal. Mine sits on 4 bars cold idling and 3 when hot and idling. Cruising at 100 it sits on 5 when cold and then goes to 4 after about 15 minutes. My oil pressure went up slightly when i got them to change the oil at 3000Km on its first service. I brought my own oil 5W40 100% synthetic.

But i see some have higher oil pressures than others, i probably put it down to instrument accuracy.

dont stress too much mate oil pressure gauges have accuracy problems but as you would already know oil pressure changes as engine gets warmer so if the light comes on on dash itself you then have a problem if not dont stress. Cheers mate. Andy.

Mine rides around 3 -4 bars most of the time

I find the centre instrumention is next to usless. Holden should try a little harder and place some half decent instrumentaion in there. Wouldn't complain if the red colour were changed to something less irritating to the eye as well.

When you change your oil, your oil gauge will read a higher pressure than before you changed it, as also when the car is cold, to when it's hot.

My sentiments exactly. After spending $50,000 on a Holden SSV ute you would think Holden could have come up with something more fancy than the horrible (non-adjustable brightness) atari 80's crap style digital readout. :vpo: :vpo: :vpo: :vpo: :vpo:
