I just saw this on the Wheels magazine website (Click for link (http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/News/HSV+names+its+tough+Tourer.html))

http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/wheels/wheelsed.nsf/e4708d9b1feab2d7ca256c59000e7e17/54bfa268feae9a74ca257447000a5e0a/Body/0.84?OpenElement&FieldElemFormat=jpg

It's going to be called the Tourer and will be on sale in October.

That would be a very nice car!

Its nice but nothing really OMG about it in the looks department compared to the HSVs that are already out..

Looks like an R8 with a tailgate to me would of liked to see a few different things like what they did with the maloo

Not sure why anyone would get a wagon but each to their own...

Because they are practical. Take camping for example, I have an MY02 Subaru Outback when we go camping with my mates they have to screw around setting up tents. All we do is fold the seats, blow up the matress open the two sunroofs and all is sweet. I traveled from Melbourne to Katherine camping the whole way like this and I would do it again... While I don't reckon wagons look that good they are certainly practical.

james23wcr
12-05-2008, 01:51 PM
I understand the practicality, but as far as taking a Clubsport wagon on a camping trip goes...

Grommz
12-05-2008, 01:53 PM
Why not ? its only a car you might aswel bloody drive it..

plus not all camping trips consist of hitting muddy trails and 4wd tracks..

Thats why they make Discoverys if your into the offroad tracks!

I'm not, I just find wagons incredibly ugly. I wouldn't drive a car that I think looks bad regardless of it's engine especially when the alternative (VE SS, Clubsport etc...) was there...

Agreed.. to a point james.

I dont like wagons when there stock.. but.. you put a nice stance, rims and tint, stereo and some engine work to them and you have one unique gorgeous ride..

Ill take the HSV GTS wagon or tourer over any Holden/HSV sedan (except the W427)...

I'm with u 100 dude. Its nice, but already been done (in sedan).

I guess they didn't have much choice though. They could hardly do a rad version of it, as that would stuff the next release of the sedans.

Plenty happy staying with a Calais V wagon until HSV decide to fire whoever the Star Wars junkie is that's doing their styling at the moment.

According to this article (http://editorial.carsales.com.au/car-review/2933002.aspx), the rear end won't have the Maloo lights.

From subsequent discussions with HSV staff at the LS3 launch, it's apparent that the Tourer will stick with a rear-end look close to the standard Holden's. HSV will not create a unique tailgate for the Tourer as the company did for the Maloo.

Been speaking with my dealer about the HSV wagons. He has said the following...

There will be two models, a HSV (Clubsport) Tourer and a HSV (Senator) Estate. He's not sure if the Clubsport and Senator names will carry over to the wagon versions but they are spec'd the same and the options will be the same as per the sedan versions. The price will be about $1000 more than the sedan versions.

Both models will have the option of A6 or M6 transmission too and the new M6 will certainly be the transmission of choice :D

Change over drive away price for HSV LS3 Senator Estate in Red Passion with M6 and Light Urban interior - I'm looking at around $25k to $30k and Nov/Dec delivery... I have a while to think about it too which is good.

So this thread has been quiet for a while, and i'm going to be honest with you, it'd been a while since i had logged on here.. Funny thing is it was only today i found out that there was going to be a HSV sportwagon...

Boy did it look nice, and the back is rather sedate, which i like :)

In the flesh the VE TOURING is absolutely Schmick! No idea why this was out of the factory with nothing disguising it?? But i guess HSV don't need to seeing as they've released a photo...

The first thing i saw as i pulled off the freeway was a phantom sportswagon... so i sped up to take a look, only to relise catching it wasn't as easy as what i thought it might be... and then bang... theres the HSV badge and big wheels...

I was going to get an SSV but now i'm not so sure...

Honestly mate, its badges only... Guess thats what happens when you have an SSV model already, it was basically the same as that....

Didn't have a good look at the lower skirt unfortunately... But yes the rear end wasn't anything like the Maloo if thats what people were hoping for, though that suits me just fine :)

The usual Chrome strip, V Taillights, HSV Badges...

That would turn me off straight away. I like the look and everything but I like to change the gears myself. Manual available on the V8 models though.

First can i ask what size and the Wheel name s they look hot...

The new HSV wagon i've had price as i want another wagon and was happy to have HSV again.. The Price is $80,000 plus on roads. Should be a bit less then a Grange on road but not the normal $1,000 more then a normal sedan like the new wagon has been priced now.. As much as i love my HSV's i will be buying a new Holden wagon instead.. Can't see $80,000 in a wagon.:flipoff:

And they looked real good in the shadowchrome on the dark grey car. In fact I'd say they looked better than the GTS mags (and we all know how good they are!).

I quote from the new Excel Magazine (the Offical HSV Publication) I received in the mail this week:

"The HSV Clubsport R8 Tourer will be priced from just $65,990, with specifications similar to the Clubsport R8. The Tourer will be powered by the new LS3 engine, which is now standard across the HSV V8 fleet. In line with the Maloo R8, customers will have the choice of optioning a 'performance pack' which combines full leather seats and 20 inch wheels"

I had a look through an HSV Tourer wagon still in it's plastic with wood chocks in its springs at my local Holden dealer this arvo! It was a black auto with cloth trim. Myself I am hoping for a red manual with leather. The biggest thing i want to know is if they are going to put in the upcoming tremec TR6060!

It was a little disappointing as the rear bar is exactly is the same as the SS wagon. It also uses the standard lights and chrome strip by the looks of it. The only way you can tell it is an HSV from the rear is the R8 badge. Also it is named a Clubsport on the side skirts not a Tourer! I expected it to be named the tourer all over (not just on the tag under the bonnet) In saying this i still think i will get one!!!:goodjob:

The HSVs are in my eyes the only good looking E series vehicle, bar the new SS wagon. The model range doesnt vary enough to look anyting spectacular.

Good on HSV for not butchering up the rear end, if they made it anything like the Maloo that would turn me off, those reflectors in the tailgate are wrong. Maybe an addition of a rear splitter will set it apart, who knows.

Either way I'm still on board to sell my left nut for a manual senator estate........

+1

brakes and the sexy clubsport interior is a winner too!

its one thing adding some bits to an ss - this can be done well if kept subtle (do you know what that is?). but to attempt to turn it into a clubby is devaluing the ss and making it into something the wannabe's do!

Exactly, you don't buy an HSV wagon for practicality reasons. Some people have more money than sense tho

I wouldn't be so sure... Whilst not a hsv the adventra makes an excellent tow vehicle, and has been loaded with more sleepers, goods when moving or travelling I/State, or just general long stuff that no sedan would take... I've snoozed in it more than once during long trips, yet empty you can still drive a 300 + kw vehicle with leather, sunroof, comfort, hsv brakes, etc. Practicality played a big part in choice AND saved me bucks over a HSV sedan... Looks aside a wagon can do everything a sedan can do plus more..

New HSV ClubSport R8 Tourer delivers performance and versatility
02.09.2008

Holden Special Vehicles has launched the new ClubSport R8 Tourer into the Australian market, with all the performance characteristics of the HSV brand in a versatile and luxurious new package.

The ClubSport R8 Tourer will be the company s first wagon since the all wheel drive Avalanche was released in 2003.

According to HSV s General Manager of Sales, Darren Bowler, the Tourer is a natural extension to the current HSV range of luxury and performance vehicles.

We were very impressed with the Sportswagon product our colleagues at Holden have released and believe the ClubSport R8 Tourer takes the concept to the next level, Darren Bowler said.

The Tourer is powered by the high performance LS3 engine producing 317kW of power and 550Nm of torque, making this one of the most powerful wagons produced anywhere in the world.

The Tourer also has impressive handling and ride characteristics and HSV s enormous brakes and safety package we expect this product to appeal to a range of customers, including families who will enjoy the versatility this HSV brings to the garage.

HSV s Chief Engineer Joel Stoddart said customers would appreciate the driving experience of the Tourer just as much as the HSV sedan range.

We ve built on our knowledge gained since the launch of the E-Series range in August 2006 particularly in chassis development and tuning coupled with the all new LS3 engine, to produce one of our best ever products, Joel Stoddart said.

The ClubSport Tourer R8 is a versatile and extremely responsive package.

HSV has produced a handful of wagon variants over its 20 year history. Prior to the Avalanche, the company built 27 VT Senator Signature Estates in 1997.

HSV will build around 120 ClubSport R8 Tourers for the Australian market in 2008.

A manual ClubSport R8 Tourer is priced from $65,990, which is just $1000 more than the equivalent ClubSport R8 sedan.

Automatic transmission is an additional $2330. Customers have the option of full leather seats for $2490 and can customise their Tourer even further with a 20 inch wheel and tyre package for $2500.

The Tourer is available from dealers nationally.

I gotta say, I'm glad I didn't wait for the HSV ... I like how mine turned out a lot more.

... and I'm not finished yet.

:goodjob:

nick that is pure pornography... i have just stolen that picture for my desktop background.

after seeing the new tourer i think you made the right choice as well.

Cant believe they havnt even attempted to modify the rear, which is pretty much what i was hanging to see.

Have some pics of a black R8 wagon which was just delivered to a well-known Brisbane performance shop. Would look horn lowered on GTS 20 inch wheels; drop in an exhaust, OTR and smallish cam and the LS3 wagon would be nuts for the family on the move.

Sorry about the crappy phone pics - get Apple to put a decent camera in the iPhone!

I dropped my car in at my dealership this morning to get a leaky radiator replace, that they fitted new 8 months ago.

Anyway in the lot was a brand new VE Clubsport Wagon, looks great! I didn't have my camera on me this morning but I will grab some pics when I go there this arvo. Would love to grab one for the Mrs and the kids.

So is the above picture a true indication of what the rears look like with the Maloo style treatment; or is that a Photoshop effort ?? Certainly distinguishes the rear from the other VE wagon models...

Nice work Holden Man. :goodjob:

That's the rear bar it should have had (not just the plain SS style bar).

Is it me, or are the extra bits of red lense slightly less hideous on this photochopped wagon than they are on a Maloo?

:jester: I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that (I was thinking of changing it to "WAGN" but left it to see if it would be spotted)

It appears that Ignition is back on the menu as pointed out. It actually doesn't look to bad on the HSV Website but it looks a little brighter then it is in person. As shown with the Atomic which looks almost fluroescent.

Tourer has its our web page on HSV now!

www.hsv.com.au/tourer (http://www.hsv.com.au/tourer/)

I was read through the specs and came across a reversing camera!!
About time they include this in a HSV.

Under 2.3 Exterior its has this written:

Excitement has taken a new form. The unmistakeable silhouette of a wagon is enhanced by the HSV performance body kit.
Reverse camera (standard from late 2008) and rear park assist make reverse parking ‘straight forward’.
Ominously shaped 45mm projector fog lights and 90mm driving lights project a brighter, more powerful beam than traditional reflective globes.
Dominant angular lines and matt black housing highlight the design’s undeniable motorsport influence. Turn the darkest night into day.

Good to hear. Hopefully it is available on the whole range too. Should have been there from the first VE though...
