Hi everyone, I have imported a 1997 Bmw R1200c as a personal import and I am now at the stage where it is able to be registered. (i hope:) )
I see from the Rta website that they require a weighbrige ticket.
Thus my question: is this a requirement for a motorbike and if so why?

Well I guess they've gotta confirm it's kerb weight somehow. Especially if it's a non-AU market bike, they probably don't have any data for it.

Correct, they need weight/engine data, etc
Not sure about bikes but they normally want an engineer to inspect to confirm it has not had serious accident history, etc either.

It's an ADR requirement i believe.

Well it was not such an issue after all, paid $24 at the bourke road Weighbridge and took the ticket to the RTA. I still do not know why they need this for a large motorbike (ie not one that is being used by a learner where power to weight is an issue), but it was not really a problem to conform and now I have my BMW all legal and registered.
Now it is time to go out there and look for some nice roads and rides.!!!

Its got something to do with the ADRs I think. I had to do the same thing for the Tonner when I brought it across from Sydney. They said it was because there is no standard tray for the tonner so they needed a weight. It didnt make much sense to me either.
