Some people need a lesson in who engineers the best cars in the world... It's not GM, Ford ot Toyota.
Go watch the Megafactories Ferrari episode. Some of the best cars in the world come out of Maranello.

**** that looks sensational. One major point with that car is it looks great whether the roof is off or on. I have noticed a lot of current model convertibles with automatic hardtops have it wrong. I.E. The car looks great when the roof is off but once the roof is on, it looks awkward and ill-shaped. Ferrari got it spot on, looks well suited and balanced in both guises.

Depends how you define best cars. The Nissan GTR is faster than any ferrari around the nurenbring track in germany and its quite likely the new LS9 powered corvette will be as well. The Nissan and Chevy are a bit cheaper than the average ferrari, possibly more reliable as well. Toyota will soon have a supercar too.
Who knows we may have Hyundais taking on ferraris soon.
All good for the average punter.

I didn't say fastest... What the hell makes you think a Chevrolet or a glorified Datsun :stick: are more reliable?

Yes the gtr may be a giant slayer but the one thing they nissan, corvette and most manufacturers will never have is the passion and emotion that ferarri and some of the other exotic marques stirs up.
The average punter dreams about owning one of these cars.... when you see one drive by in the street you pause for a moment and admire this thing of beauty. To the uninformed people out there who will see a gtr they will say "ewwww its a nissan, you payed 150 thou for a nissan", they wont care that is faster around a track than a ferarri...to them its still a nissan.
i know when i win the 50 mil on thursday night i am not definately stopping by the nissan dealer that for sure, you will be seeing me camping out the ferrari ( or lambo ) dealership.
ohhh and yes that blue one does look amazing

So your going to win 50 million and then go camping in the street....if you win give me a bell and i will show you how to spend the cash!! haha
Fair call on the ferrari marque though, i totally agree with you there. Ferrari has a certain stigma and cred attached to it that no many other cars can ever match...and although the skyline may be faster its still a nissan at the end of the day.
Love the car...but not the name....whats with california anyway??

its to do with the fact its used styleing cues from the 1960's 250 gt californias, one of the most collectable/ arguably best looking ferraris around.

Depends which way you look at it, a classic and appreciating car, or a mental modern day cruiser with balls...... both have their pros and cons.....

Comparing Ferrari's and Nissan's on paper?
Here's two houses for sale in Sydney:
5 Bedroom, 3 bathroom, double garage (http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsearch?a=o&id=104719725&f=0&p=10&t=res&ty=&fmt=&header=&cc=&c=61296177&s=nsw&tm=1212552516)
2 Bedroom, 1 bathroom, no garage (http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsearch?a=o&id=104798621&f=0&p=10&t=res&ty=&fmt=&header=&cc=&c=66433564&s=nsw&tm=1212552645)
The first is available for $318,000 .... the second for $1,575,000
On paper, the first option makes so much more sense.
But i'd take the second if I had the money and (even though I could afford it)never touch the first .
Paper based comparisons are worth just that ;)

Very true
And as the only Lambo owner I know "UWish" can attest to .. its not just a car, but a door opener, phone number gatherer, class distinguisher.
The GTR would only get the attention of those wishing to relieve you of it.

Walking my Rottie down Bay st Port Melb On sat arvo, enjoying life( was actually goin to put lotto on)....Burnt Orange Lambo comes flying down the road and nails its.....IT sounded like the whole world was coming to an end!!!!!!.....you should've seen the smiles on peoples faces......Only in a Lambo or Ferrari could you get away with that and not look like a tool!!!!! As much as i like the GTR's....try doin the same in one of those....people would be ripping you out of the car at the next set of lights to give you a good rough up.

No not on paper, on a the race track the worlds top car makers take their cars for development and benchmarking.
I agree that the current Ferraris are great cars, have a big wow factor and i would love to own one but I bought a boat instead. Ferraris are not without equals in performance.

The cheapest part of owning any Ferrari is buying it.
Running it is the expensive bit

That z06 does look hot:drool::drool::drool:
Apples and Oranges. They are all just marketing tools to get people to buy these cars. I would say most ferrari's owners buy if for the prestige, not to get it to the track to race against a GTR, you will never attract a potential Ferrari owner to buy a GTR by marketing that it is cheaper and goes faster than a Ferrari. In the same way HSV would never market the W427 against Ferrari. These companies are marketing to a select group of people and thus generally they have a limited run of cars. The difference is with Nissan, GM etc they have a wider audience based on price sensitivity. If you could by a new Ferrari for the price of the GTR, would you still buy that GTR? A select few would the majority of the population would go for a ferrari. I don't even like Ferrari's but I would buy one if it was the new model and the same price of the GTR.
Again Apples and Oranges

You can't say that mate cmon have a good think about what you just wrote. I love the vettes especially that black one but it isn't a Ferrari.
The zo6 is one of the coolest looking cars on the planet and with a ls7 in it will match it with the exotics but it will never have the same class as one of Enzo's finest.
cheers

its just like buying a T shirt - buy one from k mart for $10, or one from CK for $110, both do the same thing, but one carries a nice logo

Go watch the Megafactories Ferrari episode. Some of the best cars in the world come out of Maranello.
And some of the worst came out of there too....
Sorry to kill anyone's sacred cow, but Ferrari's were once as reliable as British Leyland Jaguars and Luis Chinetti (Ferrari's US conscessionaire) placated many furious owners who paid megadollars for beautiful lusty-sounding machines that lunched themselves regularly and rusted away rapidly.
Its only lately that Ferraris have become the great allround machine they are. Before any bias allegations are thrown at me for being a Beemer owner, one of my first drives with a provisional licence was a 330 GTC and my dream car has always been a '61 LWB California :)
