Hey everyone,

Seems that my mate broke the cup-holder in my car last night, and I want to know if anyone knows what'd be involved in fixing it? Or if it's cheap, where in Melbourne I could take it to be repaired.

To me it looks like the spring loader in it has either fallen out or come loose as it won't slot back into where it should and the ring doesn't swivel like it should.

So right now the cup-holder is pretty much just sitting out permanently :bawl:

So I'm hoping I can just remove a side panel on the console rather than completely take apart the dash/console!

Any help is appreciated!

Have a look at this document:

http://www.asr-audio.com.au/files/StereoModInst_rev1.1.pdf

You will have to remove your stereo as detailed and then from about page 7-8 details how to remove the centre trim panel. Once you have got that out, the cup holder will unscrew from the trim panel. You can then either repair or replace the cup holder, depending on how badly it is damaged. The stereo removal keys are quite easy to make from a wire coat hanger.

I had my centre trim panel out of my VZ Monaro today in about 20 mins, it isn't a hard job at all.

You pretty much have to pull the front console off which isn't actually all that big a job. The cup holders are a screw on item from the back and should be easy to replace. From memory, it's been a while, you need to pull off the centre panel (the one where the shifter is) to get the front off though. Just go slowly and don't force anything.

Ahh, great, thanks for the advice guys! I think it'll be a job for me tomorrow, was pretty depressing seeing something already broken after only have the car for six weeks :bawl:
