Dont worry, that was my first thought when i saw it.
Ive got an SS bar on the way.
Should be painted and ready not this weekend but next weekend.
Ive done the first mod today appart from fitting my old K&N filter.
I was so set on getting an LS1 ute so i started reading a few things on the forums.
I bought an oil catch can off a mate a few weeks back after reading a few threads about the oil vapor problem in the intakes with the LS1.
Took about an hour to make a little bracket and fit it all up.
Seems to run with no problems so hope it works.
Ill put some pics up tomorrow

My VY SS front bar and sides are all painted and ready to pick up.
Problem is they're at my family pannel beater up at mums and i moved out 2 years ago.
I head up there once a month so ill got them soon.
And i need to source a chev grille before i fit it up.
Also got bored a few weeks ago and fabed up a chev badge out of alluminium scrap that i had lying around.
I double sided taped it on the back along with the Gen 3 badge.
Its not "to in ya face" like the big chrome badges.
(Also my old MJR-350 plates will be comming out of hold as soon as i pay the transfer stamp duty, what a rip off)

Finally got the SS bar on.
Decided to leave both the front horizontal parts black.
I fitted a chev grille that needs the chev symbol painted and im thinking that tiger mica colour.
Might do that some time next week.
Im also getting fog lights as the harness is there ready to go.
Ive also fitted a yella terra maf pipe that i got cheap off a forum member

I finally got the old MJR 350 plates out of storage.
Had the use the hard earned cash from my 21st birthday party :dancenana: to pay the transfer fee.
Bloody hell, it could pay off the national debt if everyone went out and bought a higher prices second hand vehicle.
Anyways, the plates are on and thats all that matters
4 years ago I said that they would eventualy go on something like an SS with a 350 in it.
Also did a little photoshoping with the pic i took

Yea i want something similar to yours with steel channel frame.
Dad has a design where the sides clip under the channel so there's no ugly hinges on the sides.

Finally got the Fogs off another forum member for a song.
Cant believe holden wanted almost $400 for 2 :flipoff:
I ended up walking around the local wreckers for about half an hour lookig at every VY and VZ interior for a headlight switch.
Most of them had the interior/dash ripped apart and spreat through out the car.
Walked inside and another guy popped his head around the corned and told me to look at the new VZ SS ute that just came in.
Surely enough it wasn't in the "commodore" area but it had an intact interior.
I got home, put the switch in and nothing happened
Then i remembed that holden also had a relay down on the quote  so the A/C relay worked well untill i get a second one

EDIT...........................
How stupid could i be.............
My mate today pointed out that i have the thick (rear) number plate on the front and the thin (front) number plate on the rear.
I would have never noticed unless someone pointed it out like they did.
thing is i had them the correct way around on the old VT so ive go no idea what i was thinking

Nice tonner mate. I'd swap my ute for a VY or VZ Tonner any day!
I reckon the horizontal bits on the front bar would look much better in white - give it a cleaner look, but that's just me :)

I like it so im not fussed

Only thing it grille is different so get an SS grille before you swap otherwise you'll have a nice hole till you get one

Now i find out that fiberglass isn't too good on plastic so ill have to use my plastic welding skills.
Should be finished in a month or 2.
Anyways after reading around i found a thread bu Sonny that showed how to relocate the PCM.
http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=67826
I had a stab at it today and was impressed with the results.
I only had one unit under the kick pannel so after cutting up the big bracket, i was left with a nice little box for the abs torque control unit that went up under the glove box.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c389/chevy_big_block_bro/02052009401.jpg
Only other pic i got was the loom all ready to be taped up because i had a firecall ass i was finishing up and had to stuff everythinng in and go GRRRR
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c389/chevy_big_block_bro/02052009402.jpg
But the PCM now fits nicely behind the kick pannel and the rails in the engine bay are awaiting my coil relocation
And the end result......

How is the SS inductions gauge holder mate?
Some people reckon they don't fit properly and rattle...
I have also heard that the black colour is different from the factory black plastics..
I have always liked them because they face the driver unlike the Holden ones..
How hard was it to wire up the Aftermarket gauges?

its an great fit but needs 4 holes drilled as its screwed and capped.
There's no way it can rattle with the pressure that the screws put on it.
Just dont do up too tight as it will make the corners sit up a little
Mine isn't black, its grey to match the rest of the trim and its spot on.
And yea piss easy to connect up.
I used the power and earth off the phone connector in the passenger side
Just use a test light
And im prety sure i used a brown/white trace wire from the head unit loom for the illumination (dims with headlights on).
The headunit loom is right next to the phone plug so its real easy.
The gauges come with a wire diagram so you cant get too lost.
I always mean to take pics but i get so involved, i simply forget

This arvo i started the first quarter of my coil relocation.
I used 7 core trailer wire to extend the passenger coil loom so that it will reach the chassis rail
I stripped back the injector loom and brought the coil plug harness as far back as i could.
I had to extend 1 green wire to make it reach.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c389/chevy_big_block_bro/01062009459.jpg
Soldered them all up, heat shrinking them joints.
Then i put a heat shrink over the top if all the heat shrunk joints then taped over that. (what a mouth full)

Supprisingly it started first attempt
Next ill do the drivers side, make up the brackets and relocate them like sonny did where they all clump together vertically

its sad, why couldn't they have bought a turbo diesel hilux instead and left the LS1 tonner to somone that would extend its legs.
I bought mine with the intention of slowly working on it over time.
Hence the reason im looking for a reliable "work" ute in the next 12 months when i finish my apprentiship.
Dads thinking a nissan patrol with either a 308 or 350 chev conversion yet i tend to lean towards something injected like an LS1 :-P
UPDATE on coils
Today i braved the rain and extended the drivers side.
Way better pics this time that show it more clear
This time i had to extend the black and black/red wire (you'll see what i mean)

FINALLY
After a few weeks, i deceded to pull my finger out and fab the passenger side bracket up.
Its 25mm x 1.6 stainless.
I used 2 origional bolt holes so no drilling was needed.
The spacers are copper refrigeration tubing and they'll get a good polish when i find a day that doesn't run out of daylight.
I also took the chance to fit the polished rocker cover as thats the reason i relocated the coils.
Just need to do the other side now

Had an easy day at work today so started on the coils on the drivers side.
Thought i'd make a start and finish over the weekend but got it knocked over in just under 2 hours.
This sides bracket and layout was a little different to the passenger side because of the heater tap and brake lines. You'll see what i mean.
In the end im pretty happy because the only outlay was $10 for the the All Thread and $5 for some copper pipe for the passenger side.
The stainless i got from a mate and i had all the bolts lying around.

Dad took it for a drive up the street and it actually sounded like a car that i would own.
Ended up with stainless 1 3/4" X Force 4-1's with 100cpi cats and custom 2 1/2" exhaust with Mercuary straight through boxes.
I know you say hu? Mercuary?
They're not just a replacement muffler for grandmars car, they do have hi flow stainless mufflers and all together it sounds awesome.
Ill try and get a sound clip up when the misses gets home tonight

The single centre box is a 2 in 2 out design and he said he started it up without the tail pipe section and it was obnoxiously loud.
He left the tail pipe section with the twin boxes as a clamp together part so i could remove them at my disgression and fit straight pipes but i dont think ill be driving without them.

A few weeks ago i started to make a battery tray for my battery relocation to under the tray.
The tray's made up of the standard battery tray with a bracket that bolts up infront of the fuel tank at the rear.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c389/chevy_big_block_bro/22092009611.jpg
I finally got around to putting the battery tray under the tray today.
Was alot easier than i thought it was going to be once i removed one of the cross bars that mounts the tray to the chassis.
That enabled me to drill half of it on the bench.
I thought i'd run the cable too so it runs up in the drivers side skirt and around on top of the wheel arch up under the plastic.
Its now just a case of mounting the circuit breaker and power stud, ripping out the battery from under the bonnet then putting it in its new home and hooking up all the cables.
Should be done next weekend

Yea i thought of that but its a thick cable and really nowhere to hide it.
Its fused and the only way anything could happen is through an accident.
If i get hit in the drivers door, the last thing ill be thinking about is the cable.
Its fused so i should be fine and its not comming into contact with any metal edges
MJR-57T

Got myself a 200 amp ANL fuse this morning, Couldn't be stuffed tracking down a good quality resettable one.
Took around 2 hours to make a bracket for the fuse and fit the battery under the tray.
+ cable comes from battery terminal, down the side of the car, under the wheel arch and onto the power stud.
Everything that was originally going to the + battery terminal under the bonnet now goes to the power stud.
Later on down the track ill pull everything out and hook the lead from the battery to the base of the fuse box then run the same 2ga wire to the starter motor.
That eliminates all the mess.

I decided to ditch the power stud and use an isolation switch instead. I put the switch into a box to keep it looking clean and tidy and while i was there i re ran the cables to the starter and fuse box
The main fused line comes from the battery onto one side of the isolator. The other side of the isolator has 2ga that goes to the starter and also 2ga to the fuse box.
At the moment its not wired as a safety cut off switch as the alternator will still run the motor after its isolated. its mainly for if i have to leave the car out on the street in bad areas. If i do decide to go in events then ill change it around.
I also have a 20amp fuse running over the isolation switch so that i can lock and unlock the car while its isolated. It also enables the alarm to stay active and keep the time on the clock.
Benefit is that it will instantly blow the 20amp fuse if someone tries to start the car

For all those haters out there, ive decided to fab up a custom grille.
Yes thats right, no more chev grille
Im sick of the constant shit fight
Its a standard SS grille with the guts chopped out and replaced with perforated aluminium.
I was considering fibreglassing up the chopped sections but thought i'd put my plastic welding skills to use and do it properly. Problem is the gun is at my mums and wont be heading up there until a few days before new years.
I do need a little help though
Im tossing up whether or not to put the lion back on or even just the "HOLDEN" badge from the late model rodeo's.

Dad bought a set of LED tail lights for the work trailer a few weeks ago and they out perform normal tail lights 10 times over.
After seeing them i thought its time to upgrade considering that i have a tray back and only have a set of crappy universal combination lights.
The idea was fit them straight to the original mounts but i had a brain fart and thought about filling in the rear sections.
Here's the end result.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c389/chevy_big_block_bro/IMGP6288.jpg
I did have a problem with fast blinking indicators and no cruise control but a Narva electronic LED flasher and a few 470 ohm resistors keep that under control.
I've used one 470 ohm resistor in parallel on each brake light for now as its enough to let the cruise control engage and they also don't get too hot after 5 mins on the brakes constantly.
I tried two 6 ohm resistors but they fried in a matter of seconds
To do it properly i have two proper heat sinked resistors on the way that are recommended by automotive LED shops for this exact purpose
My next project will be filling in the section between the lights where the number plate goes. The plate will also be recessed in about 50mm

Here's the grille and the new plates that suit a little better.
The grille infill piece was a real pain in the ass to cut up and fit. There's no straight lines or angles to go off.

That looks a hell of a lot better, the red really stands out and makes you notice the lack of coil packs there. good job.
