Sounds like something you would send the 1st year apprenctice down the shop to get (joke)
Apparently a lot of VW/AUDI cars use these bolts. Have many other people heard of these before?? ie Tuna?- just curious. Might go to the local Super Cheap and see what they say

Looks like a normal Hex bolt...ie 6 sides. Maybe triple square is a fancy name for it. I guess if you draw three squares over each other the outside looks like a hexagon...
Maybe thats a stupid explaination of what i mean?

Great!
Another tool to buy :1peek:
12 pointers. Next step on from the torx bit 6 pointers I guess.
Go to Dick Smith or Jaycar. You can buy screwdriver kits with them.

very common in european stuff as mentioned......
if you are REALLY stuck you can get away with a 6 sided allen key... but as it is 3 'squares' rather than 2 'hexegon's (sp) the shape is a poofteenth different and using an allen key can damage them if they're very tight...
not often used from what i've seen... but definitely out there and on the increase...
i've never seen one on a commodore though so if thats the extent of your tool usage i wouldn't think they're worth lashing out on...
usually you'll see them refered to as M followed by the number size... which i don't know what part of the tool the number relates to... be it the diameter, or size of one of the 'squares' or what...
here is a kit from snap-on tools... part number TSSKIT

You can also get a set from Repco. Built a few buggies in my time and very common as fly wheel bolts on old VW engines.

4L60E's use Torx+ for the Bellhousing bolts..
Slightly different form to a normal Torx which will strip the bolt if used..
I have a set of the 12 point keys here didn't know what they were called though so learnt something new thanks OP!
