thats great news if it happens, hopefully ANDRA will jump on board with the drag strip side of things so that ANDRA professional drag racing has another track and hopefully another event to go to, would be another step in the growth of the sport.
A mate of mine has told me that ANDRA is not going to jump on board!
Been checking the Sporting Car Club S.A. webpage and there is no update yet except to say that there was a big announcement at their meeting last night.
"NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS
YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THIS NEXT GENERAL MEETING ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 4TH AT 8.00PM TO HEAR A VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM OUR PRESIDENT RODNEY GIBB ABOUT A FUTURE ACTIVITY OF THE CLUB"
Just checked their homepage again......

Hey at least it seems as though we have something going on at last in this so called "Pissant" "Backwater" :goodjob:
i cant understand why they wouldnt get on board with it, it dosnt make sense, andra drag racing has been on the up and up for the last 5-6 years now and having another track and possibly big event to race at would just help it grow. I dont know whats running through the heads of the managing directors of ANDRA but i would sure like to know. I understand there would be a hell of a lot involved in ANDRA getting involved and creating a new event but surely it could only bring some good
Just found another media release about it on the Coorong council website. :)

About bloody time too
unfortunalty this is not new news, this idea was thrown around when mitsis closed its doors I think it may have enev been on the cards before the port adelaide development was raised, and now the media have only just got on board with it all. AS much as I would love this to come to fouristion i think it is just another slow media day and another carrot for the pollies/media to dangle in front of us
No Todd, it is a done deal AFAIK!
It is on Coorong council website and a guy from the council was on the radio talking about it as well!

He was saying they will have street meets starting in the very near future.

It also has a newsletter announcement about it on CAMS website.

its all good that we now have a track but its 1.5hr out of adelaide, atleast AIR was 30-40mins away
i would love pt adelaide to get the green light but its never gonna happen especially with a labor state gov
1.5hrs is nothing compared to the alternative we have.
I personally think we are lucky in adealde and spolied everything is 20mins from everywhere else.
I was bored the other day and googled WSID to see where it lies that is 1 hour from the CBD, heathcote is 2.5hrs from melborne. 1.5hrs is nothing and definatly worth the trek
Been talking to Eric Ozgo who is the new manager at Tailem bend, they have organised to buy all the new timing gear and will be running 1/4 mile street car racing in the next 2 to 3 months.
They are also trying to get ANDRA on board to perhaps do some comp meets in the future. :goodjob:
They will be running test and tune days on Saturdays starting April.
