VE Series II Driver Seat Squeak/Creak
Anyone having issues with with squeaks/creaks in VE Series 2 drivers seat?
Mine has been in four times now, once with Tech to inspect and still no result. After a lot of complaining, they have today decided to replace it.
But was also told, that at least my dealer gets 6-7 owners a month complaining and the Tech-line fixes are not working. This is an on-going issue and to date, Holden has no answers, and unless the customer is theatening to go to Consumer Affairs, are for the most part, refusing to replace the seat.
Re: VE Series II Driver Seat Squeak/Creak
it will be the seat base that is causing the noise.

Re: VE Series II Driver Seat Squeak/Creak
Had a small amount of squeak/creak occasionally in my 07 VE which gave me the sh**s. So I lithium greased all the moving parts and joins of the seat base, moved it around a bit then back to my seat position, haven't heard any noises since. ***touch wood***
Some movement on modern vehicle seats is a given when you consider all the adjustment available. Sometimes it can be cause by cracked welds but imo its just flexing i the mechanism.

Hey mate,
Where exactly did you grease it up? My seats are driving me crazy.
Re: VE Series II Driver Seat Squeak/Creak
I put the adjustment all the way up, and just sprayed lithium grease on all the moving joins and hinges on the underseat base for all the mechanism and where it sits in the tracks (both sides). Moved it up, down and back to my seat position. Seemed to have worked.
While its moved fully up, just check the mesh/base under the cushion incase it has actually failed and one of the welds has cracked.
Hope that helps.

Bloody macca's...:hide:
In "most" situations, the following works on VE's (up to the build date listed)
Seat Back Recliner Creak
VE, WM
Group 01 Ref. No. TL1959 - 1009
CONDITION
Customers may complain about a creak noise coming from the front seat back when leaning back into the seat.
Either drivers or passengers’ seats could be affected.
CAUSE
Metal to metal contact between two parts of the recliner mechanism results in the creak. The contact occurs at the
dimples in the recliner mechanism. There are 4 locations on each hinge. Refer figure 1, 2, 3 and 4 which show a LH
hinge. RH hinge is similar.

CORRECTION – Vehicle Production
A special grease was added to seat recliner mechanisms production from the following breakpoint.

CORRECTION – Vehicles In Service
On customer complaint vehicles, apply the special grease available from HSPO to the specific locations on the seat
recliner mechanism as shown below. DO NOT USE just any grease, only the special grease must be used.
1. Move seat forward and adjust seat back to vertical.
2. Remove Front Seat Back rear cover as per SI instructions
Figure 5 Figure 6
3. Locate the dimple and squirt a dob of grease between the two metal surfaces adjacent to the dimple. Do this at
all four locations on each hinge on both RHS and LHS of affected seat. Refer photos below.

Location 3 – RH Side of Seat
