Gota love that Murphy fella.........
Working from home today as my little girl was crook and didn't want to go to school, spent the morning on conference calls and answering shitty e-mails from China and Singapore tools, took the opportunity around lunch time to drop my car off at Pedders on the way back from the chemist to get some bushes changed (no biggy, 1 hour's work to get done and also gave me a chance to make my girl feel better with some girly shopping at Knox City....) jumped in a taxi with her, got out at Knox and started shopping for sparkly girly things, was there 5 minutes and my phone rings..... "Hello Pedders here, we can't get your car started the wheel is locked and the key won't turn" ......
DOH!
A taxi dash back to pedders, a dash back home to get my spare keys (thanks fellas at pedders for the lift), a visit from RACV, a call to Holden and then a call and visit from a local lock smith to sort the "stuffed ignition barrel" out - 4 hours later ................... seems VY's have this as a common fault (4th one this week for the lock smith) ............... but damn, why today?
Gota love that Murphy fella!
And through it all my girl was a trooper, 6 years old, sore throat, feeling like crap and never a whimper and all it took was some chips and a Toy Story doll to make her happy....... shame the wife didn't feel the same way about it all ............

Yep, he sure has some silly laws, but that 2:06.859 lap around Bathurst was pretty special

Re: Gota love that Murphy fella.........
I thought it was gonna be a post about Dan Murphys!!! Well if it did work out like it did it still could have i guess.
Re: Gota love that Murphy fella.........
my vz has done the same thing. the racq guy got it to work again by wrapping a hammer in a rag, then tapping the barrel, to "align" the tumblers, and then vigorously jamming the key in and out while trying to turn it. he had it going after 1 minute of effing about. he told me its a common problem from vn up to vz. holden want about $300 for new barrel etc. they told me they have plenty in stock all the time. which says to me, maybe if its a design fault, or shoddy cheap parts, maybe they should do it for free. :) yeah right.
i had a slightly worried look on my face when he said " i have a special tool for this" , and walks back from his ute wrapping his hammer in a rag. then he nearly shat himself when the car started, and the cammed 6L came to life.

Yeah these ignition locks fail at the worst possible times. I have not had touble yet (touch wood) a workmate of mine has a VZ Lumina. A couple of summers ago, his jammed up, right when a storm was about to hit. Car was outside, and he had a couple of windows open, (power windows) He was trying madly to get this ignition barrel to work. In the end he could'nt, And in a panic had to race with the tarps and put them on with only a couple of minites to spare.
