Had a bit of a search but nothing very recent or stricly relevant.
i've got a set of ve gts (genuine) that i want machined to suit vy. ive seen a few recommendations for Ajax in Melbournes SE, are they still highly regarded.
Also i live half an hour south of Frankston, is there anywhere down the peninsula that anyone can point me to? As much as i enjoy my car, Id prefer not to have to drive over an hour if i didnt have to.

Looks as though nobody gets wheels machined in SE Melbourne, i will go to Ajax and report back i guess...
For those who are interested, Ajax did a great job, at a great price. They are a little family machine shop and really know their stuff.
They also re-rolled another set of 20' alloys for me which had seen a few of the local potholes in my area. The boys said that they get sent heaps of wheels from down the peninsula because of the poor roads, more-so than anywhere else.
They don't do any cosmetic repairs though.
So if anyone is looking to have wheels modified or repaired in SE Melbourne i can definitely recommend them for the job.

I've done my last 3 sets myself with a die grinder and an alloy cutting tool. I would never pay to get it done again....
There is no way I'd feel comfortable taking a die grinder to a $3k set of genuine HSV wheels (and I'm pretty comfortable using all sorts of tools). Each to there own but I work as a builder and see way to many 'home' jobs. I will stick to what I know and let the professionals do what they do. I know the machining is perfectly centered and true, I will never have to worry about them being seated incorrectly and snapping studs. I'm prepared to pay (albeit a meagre price) for that. Not saying I wouldn't do it if I had a machine shop with the lathe and tooling at my disposal but die grinder, no thanks buddy.
I machine quite a few of these for customers, its funny how many come in with one thats been attacked with a die grinder, usually just ends up in a mess untill they give up on the first one then bring them to me. For the price you can get them machined for i certainly wouldn't bother with a die grinder. But if your patient enough and not too worried about them being out of round then i guess its an option. How much did they charge if you dont mind me asking?
