V8s are pretty much left alone. It's usually targeting P platers in buzz boxes.

What's the young guy supposed to do for social interaction?
Certain areas are known to attract like minded individuals, so you go there to check out cars, talk shit, then leave.
Sure some ruin it for others, but policing the honey pot really doesn't help the po-po's reputation.
Moving guys on would be a start. Handing out infringements which cost thousands to fix, not really a good way to win friends.
I suppose it'd be better if they all went into the city and got drunk. At least the govt would get some tax dollars.
Now check out what the govt is doing to your superannuation in the latest budget.

Problem is that it is the same people every week down there. They get a heap of warnings, like to push the boundaries. None are from the area and go down there and piss off the locals.
Re: Anyone get caught up in Operatn Kilowatt??
my 1st car would have put all those would be illegal modded cars to shame lol.
The thing is, when i look back, there was bugger all i could do, as i was a poor student
and had to make do with the least amount possible.

I read the newspaper item, lot of defected vehicles-tyres wrong size and rubbing on guards amongst other things.I can drag out the paper and quote other defects if anyone is interested
The boys in blue don't do defects for no reason, just trying to keep the rest of us safe
there is no excuse to be knowingly driving an un-roadworthy vehicle so I have no sympathy for the owner's-they should suck it up and get over it

haha same Here mate. VL-Turbo sleeper was my 1st car. Most of those cars are moded in a work shop not a home garage like it was done.
Re: Anyone get caught up in Operatn Kilowatt??
This is not news, me and my mates back in the day would go to these sort of events and of course police would come and send you on your way, if they happen to rock up as you where halfway through a demo you copped it simple as that, my dad and uncles tell the same stories although in the close to 50 times I've been pulled over I've never cried nor anyone I know.

Exactly right.
Having a licence is a privilige not a right, and a certain amount of responsibility goes along with having one...including maintaining the condition of your car to the relevent rules of the time.
If you want to play outside those rules, for whatever reason, then you have to expect questions to be asked at some point.
From my experience over the years though, many of the cars that (supposedly) were "picked on" by "the cops" failed more because of the shite attitude of the driver, rather than the mods done to the car annoying the officers (within reason of course).
Re: Anyone get caught up in Operatn Kilowatt??
In my youth I used to go down to Auburn Maccas Friday Saturday night. First sign of Police, and we were gooone! Quietly, slowly, outa there to play another day. There was huge respect. Fast forward some years and we wonder why the Police set up operations like this one we are discussing.
Heres why...

I was at La Perouse one evening, finishing up a job, walked out the front to see this!

i take it you haven't had any cop encounters lately? A car is only as roadworthy as the mood of the cop looking at it.
Re: Anyone get caught up in Operatn Kilowatt??
The only two attractions at La Parouse are the prison, and the roundabout at the end.
Dunno what the fuss is about. Should turn the whole area into a skid park
Re: Anyone get caught up in Operatn Kilowatt??
Similar thing happened in Newcastle last Thursday night. 44 defective vehicles, 84 fines and impounded a few cars. They were kind enough to give me a defect notice for my "oversized" wheels.
