Stolen VE

I posted this thread a few weeks ago and it was closed. Please do not list on here how to steal a VE. My question is - has anyone on LS1, or do you know of anyone, who has had their VE stolen without the keys being taken? I am now being investigated by my insurance company because they have said "Holden have advised there is no way to steal a VE without the use of the car keys". Since I didnt steal my car and I have both sets of keys, I tend not to agree with this statement.

Again, please do not advise how to steal a VE in this thread.

I don't believe that any car would be impossible to steal..I have no idea how to steal a car but I'm sure it's not rocket surgery

quite easy... easy jacks out of your driveway. skull drag onto a trailer. peace a piss if it's an electric winch.

drive away.. sell bits.. profit.

The car was driven out of a shopping centre and was seen on CCTV so it was started without the keys. Im really just looking for other evidence that they can be stolen without the keys and driven.

As I also said, the insurance is saying that Holden said it was impossible to steal... well of course Holden are going to say that was my response.

Tre my thread got shutdown last time because apparently comments like this were showing people how to steal VE's. Again Im just really looking for.... "Yes mine got stolen too without the keys blah blah bla...

It is normal for insurance companies to investigate every time a car is stolen and not recovered.
My wife, (ex wife now) had her car stolen a few years ago and the investigator came out, checked to see if we had advertised the car, spoke to our neighbours
and two of her girlfriends to make sure they were happy it was a genuine theft before they paid out. It was not a problem, they were very quick and polite.
You hear so many stories about insurance fraud these days I am glad they check otherwise insurance premiums could go through the roof.

A tilt tray tow truck is a common way with better security system later model cars.:idea:

was the car modified/tuned?

im not sure but if say the antitheft stuff was turned off in the tune, then i'll take a wild guess and say it might be possible to hot wire it via ignition barrell still.

though i would think it would be more likely that someone managed to cut another of your car keys at a dealership etc (gone in 40 seconds style)

or just throwing idea's around, someone swapped out one of your keys with a fake one? so u have 2 keys still but only 1 is actually yours.

They would also need a tech 2 to program a cut key to the car AFAIK;)

of which can be had for about $700 from ebay... little outlay for potential profit when your stealing some one elses hard earned property....

Actually a professional car thief might even own a tech 2, if that was their business they don't cost that much money.
Lot's of other business invest far more than that in their "tools of the trade"

sounds like absolute rubbish to me... your insurance company will know better than anybody how a VE is stolen, they would have plenty of first hand experience with this. sounds like they are not playing fair and testing your resolve.

i would put to them that just for your car they had ring holden and had no prior experience?? seems far fetched. or find out from police who is best to talk to within police for advice....

assuming you have no insurance claim history somewhere and they are again testing you?

Perhaps not a tech 2, but you would need another pretty decent scanner to program the keys, plenty of lower end scanners will not do it.
