Aftermarket fuel rail question

This will seem like a newbie question but the only time I have tinkered with the fuel system , was to replace a dodgy sender unit in the old chargerd vx v6 we had so please humor me :D

Firstly does an aftermarket fuel rail kit add any performance benefit over the stock system , or is it more a bling thing.
Secondly I have a L77 so does that mean I would look for an LS3 kit since the L77 isint an LS2.
And lastly whats a reputable brand , and please provide links to the full kit.

More bling than anything else. And yep refer to ls3 for parts

0 performance increase. It takes a serious engine and injectors to be able to out do a fuel rail.

I've used Fast fuel rails, Edelbrock and ASE. All pretty good. The ASE ones though came with dings and marks and swarf left over from the machining process, so took some cleaning up before I used them. For the dollars I paid I was dissapointed, they offered to replace them but 20 mins later, I had them ready to go on the engine. As long as the mounting hardware is solid and the rail extrusion is of decent quality not much can go wrong. I have seen cheaper stuff lift under boost, I think this was more related to installed height and injector recess into the rail.

Stick with a good brand and I reckon you will be sweet.

Oh and a personal opinion, get ones that are O-ring boss to seal rather than NPT..

Thanks Duke. Which quality brands have the o-ring setup and will I get a better deal on a full kit with braided cross over from the states or is ebay just as good an option.

I have a set of Black Aftermarket L98's rails here with screw in -6AN fittings if you're interested, I'm not going to use them again.

Can't remember the brand but they're not Cheapies ;)

They have a few small marks on them but otherwise in good nick.

I think the Fast rails are ORB, Edelbrock where NPT. NPT isn't the devil, just need sealing tape so they don't leak. ORB, well the O-ring does the sealing.

Doesnt really matter with the cross over stuff, you can buy it after easy enough, but if it comes as a package it will probably be cheaper. I don't have a lot of faith in some of the junk that is supplied, especially if you want to use E85. Teflon is the way to go, not as pretty as the rubber braided hose fittings but you will never have to change it.
