VZ 6 Litre Split Engine Covers
Has anyone got the part number for the VZ 6 Litre Split Engine Covers, and price if possible :)
I am looking at a second had set on Ebay, but don't want to buy them if they are not much dearer brand new. I assume they will clip straight on to the L76 in a VE?
Cheers

Part numbers are 92068147 and 92068149. They used to be about $120 a pair but the original supplier went out of business and when the new supplier eventually released them the price more than doubled! :(
They do go straight on but technically require some studs/retainers which are ridiculously expensive at about $4 each (92066971) but you can improvise with just normal bolts with a bit of modification. Assuming your L76, like mine, has the extra vanity/beauty??? cover on the inlet you'll have to remove that or the covers won't sit properly.

Thanks Wonky, I had a feeling you would reply. What is this Vanity/Beauty cover? Mine just has a big black turtle on at the moment, and it just clips on. The ones on ebay I am looking at are similar to the old LS1 clip on covers (I think they were released for VY?), but have 6.0 Litre on them.

When you pull the turtle shell off and go to fit them I have a feeling you'll find they won't sit down properly. For example unlike in my picture where you see the silver pipe going across between the two covers sits almost up in the top of the slots in each cover yours will only be about half way up and the covers will wobble. The vanity cover (I think that's what it's called) I'm pretty sure was introduced with the L76 in the MY9.5. My MY9.5 certainly had it. It looks identical to the inlet manifold but actual is just an extra cover over that and has to be removed if you want the covers to sit down properly. I guess they added it to reduce AFM valvetrain noise? From memory when Chev took mine off (5+ years ago) it was a 15 min job or so???

The VZ L76 came with the split 6.0L black on silver covers.
