VF2 Clubsport R8 LSA W507 package or LS3 with after market S/C package
Hello All,
Just after some information or ideas.
With Holden coming to a close I was looking at selling my VX Clubby and getting a new car, something with a bit a grunt (400-450 rwkws) but not over the top.
I have been thinking about a VF2 Clubsport R8 LSA with the W507 package (need an auto) or maybe just a VF2 LS3 (SSV or Calais V) with an after market supercharger package.
I took a VF2 Clubsport R8 for a drive (standard LSA s/c) and it was okay but I would like to hear a lot more noise from the s/c when you put your foot down. I hardly heard any s/c noise from that car I drove.
I was wondering with the W507 package does it make any more noise? I looked at their youtube video and it sounded good but then I looked at other private videos and you cant hear the s/c.
Does anyone own one of these that can comment?
My other option is get a VF2 LS3 SSV redline and Calais V and supercharge that, but I am unsure of what package would meet my needs and still keep warranty! and the bimodal exhaust
I would like to get some ideas or thoughts on this.
I understand the Clubsport would be a lot better car but I don't want to spend that much and not tick all the boxes.
Im in SA btw.
Thanks in advance
Re: VF2 Clubsport R8 LSA W507 package or LS3 with after market S/C package
An R8 507 would be nudging 80-85k I'd imagine? An SSVR in comparison is great bang for buck but at a guess you'd still be looking 75-80k by the time you add the supercharger and all the fruit of a Walky/Harrop pack.
The LSA will allow better scope down the track and should hold its value better. SSVR/Calais is obviously a bit cheaper
If you really want the blower to make some noise then get a Gilmer kit from Enhanced...but overdriving in general will liven them up.
But to throw another spanner in the works, I would keep an eye out for both Holden and HSV limited builds in the run home. Something like the Director would be better than an SSVR or Calais to me personally if the price is right.
Re: VF2 Clubsport R8 LSA W507 package or LS3 with after market S/C package
The Walky would be road legal everywhere (no idea how) aftermarket charger not legal many places including SA I believe
Re: VF2 Clubsport R8 LSA W507 package or LS3 with after market S/C package
Walky would still be touch and go in regards to legalities. As said you would probably be better off waiting for the special editions and seeing what options they will have. Not that it matters much at the moment but in regards to resale a HSV will almost always be worth more then a Holden.

These chargers are not like the Ol Skool ones! Be more concerned about it's performance & zorst note :teach: :yup:

Heard a VF GTS start up at Brads the other day with one of his Gilmers fitted, sounded sweet as ;)
I was the opposite of the thread starter, I was worried it was going to be too noisy.

Stu what about having the vehicle/SC engineered?
Re: VF2 Clubsport R8 LSA W507 package or LS3 with after market S/C package
Not sure it can still be done in Vic & SA seems easier to the west and north
Re: VF2 Clubsport R8 LSA W507 package or LS3 with after market S/C package
How can it be "impossible" when essentially the same combination of displacement and boost are factory available? There should be no reason why it can't be engineered.
The Walky pack wouldn't pass a 5 gas test if required so its technically still not road legal.

The factory LSA option clubsport, would be pretty nice package, its already ADR Compliant from factory, and has a awesome platform for upgrades.

I have a 2016 VF II SSV Redline wagon (Auto).
I recently fitted an LSA blower off a GTS into my car.
I have the following setup;
LSA blower with 10% OD
6.5L intercooler reservoir
ID1000 injectors
Cold air intake
Hurricane 1-3/4 Long 4-1 with ceramic coating
100 cpsi cats
Dual XForce 2.5" Stainless
It made 400rwkw on Castle Hills dyno on a 40*C day recently.
The thing is an absolute hoot to drive. Very smooth linear power with oodles of torque. It's great to have stock manners and idle. No one knows it's blown until I stamp on it.
You can PM me for costing.
I absolutely love this setup. No regrets at all.
Cheers

Thanks for the information, may I ask who did it for you? How did you go with warranty of the car?
Any idea how yours would be compared to this?

No I haven't. It wouldn't pass noise and emissions as is. Quite a few get them tuned on E85 to pass emissions.
