VZ wagon rear carpet into VY wagon
Hi all,
As the title suggests I'm wondering if its possible to fit the carpet moulds from the back of a VZ wagon into a VY?
Whilst building our house many years ago I spilled some paint in the back of my VY, but now its looking like its time to sell the wagon Id like to clean it up and replace the rear carpet. Being an SS wagon the carpets are all black, compared to the grey of Executives making it a bit harder to find a suitable replacement. I'm sure I've seen VZ wagons with black carpet in the back, but they have the alloy rails which I dont know whether will fit into the VY.
Im hoping that if the VZ carpet will fit it will increase my chances of replacing the carpets sooner rather than later.
Cheers.

Nope never done a carpet replacement in either model, to do it properly is a massive job as quite a bit of the interior needs to be removed!
Here's an example when I had my dash out recently carpet is cut around everything up to the firewall!

My guess it will fit. Go measure a VZ if you can.
Shame you are selling it. Rare car these day.

Thankfully Im only looking to do the rear cargo area Mick, otherwise I'd probably just leave it!
Swordie: You're probably right, I was just hoping someone would confirm it before I go out and buy a set. In particular I dont know how the tie down rails are fitted and if mine will need modification for them to work.
It is a bit of a shame to sell it, Ive had it almost 10 yrs now and the motor was rebuilt by IJ in 2016. I thought about keeping the engine/trans as Ive got a few $$ invested in it but ultimately I think it would be a shame to pull apart a rare car like this, however unless I do some serious arm twisting of my better half its not practical to have a third car at home.

What's the G220?
Re: VZ wagon rear carpet into VY wagon
It's a 5.4L 220 Kw BA Fairlane G220. The BA XR8 had the Boss 5.4 260Kw (developed in Australia) where as the Fairlane had the 3V 5.4 modulure V8 from the U.S. The BA XT Falcon and Fairmont had the same V8 as the Fairlane.

Yeah, I thought that was what you were talking about, they were a good comfy tow car & cruiser. :yup:
Have you done the spark plugs & cam phasers in it yet?

 Martin guess so about a days work there, it all went back together & everything worked.
Re: VZ wagon rear carpet into VY wagon
Just thought I'd update this thread to say that although the VZ carpet and rails will fit into a VY, the VY doesnt have the pre drilled holes in the floor to screw the rails into. You could DIY but I'm not going to go to the trouble.

Re: VZ wagon rear carpet into VY wagon
Surely a VT or VX Berlina wagon carpet in black would be the same?
There should be a few of those being wrecked around.

Grey carpets are far more common than black unfortunately
