Fuel economy Captiva owners are getting for the Diesel not petrol
I am looking at getting a diesel LX Captiva but want to hear some real world figures from owners.
Re: Fuel economy Captiva owners are getting for the Diesel not petrol
Hi woody not many of us petrol captiva owners on here so i'd say youll be hard pressed to find any diesel owners. The two diesels i've heard on the road were realy realy noisy especialy when acellerating.

Could be a long wait to hear from some Diesel users of the Captiva. I have already driven the Santa Fe and was impress with the cabin fittings.
I am also keen on the Rav4 V6 coming out in August, have read good things about it in oversea reviews with 0-100 time of 6.9 secs.

If you have tried the Diesel Santa Fe, then why don't you take a Diesel Captiva for a spin.
This might be quicker.............

Just curious - as it isn't in the brochure (?), what are the weights of the petrol and diesel Captivas ?

Re: Fuel economy Captiva owners are getting for the Diesel not petrol
I've driven one, just waiting on work getting things sorted and I'll be getting a Diesel LX on a lease. Only trouble I'm having is colour. Originally I went for Merlot, then I saw the Chino and thought it was nicer, with Zest as a backup. Then the backup went to Mercury Silver, now after seeing a few shots on the Holden website I'm thinking about black, or the dark blue, which is very similar to the Bermuda blue that was in the VT Commodore range. I was looking at the lighter colours as the darker ones show marks and dirt a lot easier, but the black looks so damn good in the pics.
As for the diesel, the demo I drove went well, I wouldn't say it was overly noisy, typical diesel sound, couldn't hear the turbo but :(

We are looking at one as a replacement for the VZ wagon. Where did you test drive one?
We went to Kelly Holden and Newcastle City holden and were told they have none
What did you think of it over the petrol ?

Newcastle Holden has the diesel, well about a month ago they did, I imagine they would still have it given how popular it seems to be. Kelly don't have one yet as far as I know. Other than the difference in take off from a standing start, the diesel drives pretty much the same as the petrol on the road, I didn't notice any real difference, they both cruise well and throttle response is good.

It's been ordered, could be here in about 2 weeks according to the dealer, I'll keep breathing until I see it though.
Black diesel LX.
Re: Fuel economy Captiva owners are getting for the Diesel not petrol
After being given a delivery date of July 22, I stopped at the dealer on Saturday as they have exactly what I'm getting on display (petrol version though). One of the salesmen came out and I told him I had one ordered, he knew my name as he'd done some of the paperwork and went to check for an update. The thing isn't due in country until July24, so I can't expect to see it before mid August I reckon. Bit more of a wait before I can report on it now.
Re: Fuel economy Captiva owners are getting for the Diesel not petrol
Finally got it on Monday. With 14 k's on the clock it was reading 17.5L/100K. I've since filled it and reset the meter, it started at 12 andhad worked it's way down to 10.2, then I visited my parents and mum took it for a drive, when I got in to go home it was back up to 10.8, thanks mum. It's only done 250k's so I'll have to wait a bit yet to get a better idea how much it's going to drink. Can't go over 90 until it's done 500k's so no freeway work yet. Drives a hell of a lot better than the demo I took out when looking, much better off the mark, no slugishness.
Re: Fuel economy Captiva owners are getting for the Diesel not petrol
Drove a diesel auto (5 spd) one around the city for 1/2 a day - not bad for an oil-burner, deceptively quick enough (even though it had only done 800km) - running onto the freeway from a flat/slight uphill on-ramp I accelerated to merge and looked down surprised to see I was doing 120 onto the freeway. Being higher off the ground means speed seems slower I guess.
Diesel is quiet. Fuel econ was sitting around 8-10 ish so really quite good considering I wasn't being careful.
