I assume that the VE series II is not too far away as the VE is coming up to 12 months old soon. Does anyone have any idea what the series II updates on the VE might be. I am wondering whether to wait for the series II (if there are significant changes) or pick up a series I now or maybe wait for a good deal on series I after series II is released.

I would wait for the Series II for sure. From what i've gathered from reading these forums alot of the anoying little things are ironed out in the Series II release.
Also their was some rumors of the HSV Models getting the Ls3 Motor 6.2L
If you can wait for the series II as you said it will drop the value more on the 1st Gen models.:eyes:
Well from what i have heard and there are other threads abou this is there are going to be no more series 2 anymore. I think holden are busy with the ute and wagon which still dont have a date yet and if there was ever to be an upgrade to the VE it wouldnt be for at least another year
They have already done some minor upgrades to the VE with things such as dash trim ect. So would say go get a VE now if you want because you will be Waiting for a while if you dont
I dont think there will be series releases anymore from Holden only model changes.
They are basically releasing bug fixes as they go and then when the new face-lift happens they will all get rolled into that (2009 I think). Pretty much like Microsoft and their hotfixes and service packs :lmao:
No LS3 in HSVs until the face-lift (2009). There is an article in the July Motor about it.
Buy one now if you want one.

if you want a VE go get it now. next model will be the VF probably and who knows when with the ute and wagon to be released etc.
all this talk with series I being full of bugs etc wait till series II i believe is crap.
every model and make has some problems with the cars.
the early VEs had some problems and there were recalls and also fixes at dealerships as the cars are being serviced but nothing major happening to the cars.
3000km later and 6 weeks later *touch wood* i dont have a problem with mine apart from the Sat Nav playing up.
it did that for the first 4 weeks once a week but hasnt happened since.
I don't think there will be a series 2 either.
I think they will just add value (wing, alloys, premium sound system etc) to the current VE when Orion comes out. Like they do with run out models.
This has been mentioned a few times on here about a possible series II. I strongly doubt that there will be a series II as this stopped with the VZ range. Next major update will be the VF. Until then... It will just be the VE.
Agree there probably won't be a II. Stopped with VZ when the MY2006 became the biggest change. I think MY will become more the differentiator and only be minor.
I think Holden are better off just fixing/upgrading as they go - otherwise people will always wait for a Series II.
Shorter model cycles should help too.
I agree with the model year differentiation rather than the Series II moniker. This would possibly help simplify the valuing of cars as rather than have (for example) a 2003 VY Series 2 you'd have a MY2004 VY and so on.Quote:

from 04/07 models on the vin has an 8 in the year spot indicating all previous faults fixed IE all recalls and gen customer complaints
Thanks for the info guys. I was thinking of extending my lease until the series II was out, but as it appears there is no series II in the pipeline, I'l be updating the VZ as soon a the lease is up. Guess I can just go out and find the best deal at the time rather than look for a "superceded" model.

Given they are still on top of the monthly sales figures there is no real incentive for them to have to make changes and release a series II. Maybe if sales started to slide the timing for some 'extra goodies' might be right but why change now if they are on a winner.

Wasn't there a thread around which mentioned Holden were fully tapped out doing the design and engineering for something like 6 varients?
Wagon, Ute, G8, Camaro, Impala, ???
Therefore other than running bug fixes etc, VE is out and running, VF is in design/engineering.
On VF, I remember from the big thread at launch (which has dissapeared without any trace, even though somebody was going to chop it up and reinstate it as multiple threads) it was talked about the VE was going to have more differences in grill lights etc, but they wanted to make major change whilst still keeping it recongnisable Commodore. Then in VF, they had the new body bedded in and people used to it as commodore, so were able to change the other bits they had wanted to. ie VZ to VF will be a large set of changes with VE the middle ground for 3 years to transition people.
I would suggest that Holden will do something when the Orion is released.
