Supercharged HSV? - Part 3

Surely it's a given it will find its way into the HSVs? Especially with Holden falling behind in power with their ancient 6.0L still at 260-270kw. Not sure how this fits in with the LS3 going over to Holden (is there any other option for them?) which then allows HSV to get the LT1. Exciting also could be a Nissan 370z style rev match on the manuals (Corvette has it now) and flappy paddle shifts for the auto. I love showing off my heel and toe technique but the rev match on the 370 is that bloody good I almost never turn it off. It even allows double clutching on most changes (just not on 4th to 3rd). Only been turning it off lately to get ready for my GTS since I've been spoilt for so long. The LT1 is better than it looks at first glance too - check out the torque it makes at low rpm compared with the LS3. An auto Senator with an LT1? Yes please.

I doubt the Holden will ever see an LS version but there is another option and that is the L99, basically an LS3 but with reduced output and AFM. It has 300Kw and 560Nm.

Thanks. That does sound more likely.
Won't step on the toes of the late gen f HSV buyers getting the last of the LS3.

The thought of the Lt1 in the Gen f makes me very excited, 338Kw and 630nm out of the box sounds like good numbers add to that the fuel numbers into the 7's on the Corvette.
A clue you say. I bought an R8 SV. I'm not that patient (or hopeful).
Just my opinion of course. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Supercharged HSV?
Surely the LT1 development will depend on the take up in the States for the Chevy SS? If demand is soft I doubt any development $ will be spent there and HSV won't even get their hands in the cookie jar. Support stateside and the LT1 should find its way into the HSV models. I assume there is plan for a force fed version of the LT1 but maybe that will be too late for the GTS? What would be interesting is GM taking a GTS to the states for evaluation. Then offer three different LSA models!

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
Spoke to the dealer this morning and no news. Car is still in transit from Melbourne. Dealer will be notified when it arrives. Then about a week until it is mine. So the 26th plus or minus a couple of days is still looking the date.
As far as I know HSVs are transported to the distribution centre in covered wagons (transporters) and then moved around the city as above to the dealer pre delivery location. So I am guessing the black GTS was on its final journey.
-
Hmm. Not looking good for me to get mine this month if yours is still that far off. :-(

Different dealers different results I think. Keep nagging, I sure as hell will be!

Spotted a white GTS with spoiler heading west over the west gate bridge with a carrier full of other HSV's getting trucked along about 4.45 this afternoon.
I see pre HSV's(coming from Adelaide) & post HSV's getting trucked all the time.... Sorry to bust your bubble but they're treated just like every other Australian made car...whacked on the back of a CEVA carrier.... Sometimes even a two car carrier...... Actually... I think toyota's get some protective film. HSV couldn't give a toss how your car is treated once it leaves their factory as its fully paid for.

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
I spoke to the dealer on Tuesday, car was due about the 20th now saying another week to 10 days , might be lucky to see it by the end of the month.

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
Bubble is fine, thanks. Not bothered one way or another really. Mine has apparently made it to Brisbane.

Read elsewhere that there may be an unsold perfect blue GTS at a dealership in Perth.....if true and you want to get one you could save a long wait....
Perfect blue GTS next to the bluey VK

Yep City Motors Holden has it in the yard awaiting someone to take it home, must say it looks shite in Perfect Blue but will probably appeal to some West Coast Eagles fan.

I was originally told Sept 17, then Sept 23, spoke with HSV yesterday, they start building it today, may leave end of next week to dealer. Not to pleased, placed deposit in April

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
I like the blue & I am definitely not a west coast or parramatta supporter :hide:
but I like the sort of retro feel of the blue even though it isnt an actual bluey, I have had 2 red HSV's and 1 Black and I am not into silver..... I was either going to go white or blue
I have been told 11/10, but I assume anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks from that, based on dealers lie and HSV will have backlog & most likely parts issue, I hope you all get em before month end... I will just be happy when I get it regardless

I dare say once the cars start arriving at dealers there will be a stockiple of them by Xmas...let's face it they are a $100k driveaway car and that is a lot of money to finance..well out of reach for a lot of people....

lol it was only my opinion of course, but going by the photos it's not the pick of the colour.
Here is a few pics of it.

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
No offence taken at all, thanks for the pics, i really want to see it in the flesh, hope i dont regret not getting white

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
I don't mind the blue...I would however paint the calipers a different colour..probably blue like the car
-
Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
Blue looks ok callipers probably be good in Silver. Although it may look great in the flesh as these cars for some reason dont look all that good in photos really

Yeah, agreed. I reckon that it is the calipers that ruin it for me as well. Perfect Blue is not a bad colour, they should have kept Voodoo (maybe slightly biased).
-
Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
Agreed re Voodoo and on The photos dont seem to do them justice, i dont mind the yellow callipers, but that might just be that mid life crisis thing, bit like choosing blue instead of a more "mature" colour

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
Just heard a brand new Gen F GTS run up on a dyno...........349rwkw = 468rwhp.....
So maybe the factory 430kW is conservative...
-
Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
That is a very good figure and at a very reputable shop.
Good times ahead!

Approx 250 give or take jk. Although I don't know how eddies dyno reads. Lets see what other dynos show. Either way, looking forward to strip times.
What the gts power figure tells me is that there is some heavy torque tagging. On the dyno in 4th, this is not active so true power is evident. Much like the fpv sc gt's.
All the tests on r8 sv thus far have done sub 5 sec 0-100 ( 4.9, 4.8 and 4.8).
The gts performance figures will be very good with tune, pulley change.

I saw that. Would be good to see a gts on same dyno.
Impressive so far for gts.

Re: Supercharged HSV? - Part 3
The GTS is being tuned so we should see the gains tomorrow.....
Some early tuning has it just on 500rwhp......:goodjob:

Jeebus!
Think I'll be asking PT/Walkinshaw to do a tune only on it if there are some gains to be had like that.
This is looking promising.
