Alex is one of the genuine and loyal HSV guys. His current VE senator is already supercharged and I know he wants a GTS.
All just guessing and my opinion mate, but I hear ya.

GT set the bar pretty bloody high Alex.
Won't be as much faster as it will be more highly optioned and have high end tech. An Aussie Euro if you will.
We all know GT smashes ve hsv in performance (straight line, for sake of argument). It will continue to do so in a straight line for the non GTS models. Maybe buy a smaller margin.
GTS should be a different story.
Well said macca. I agree.
We are already at the very sharp end of the large performance sedan. World class really. We should be realistic with our expectations.
My prediction would be 4.1 to 4.4 0-100 and 12.2 to 12.5 1/4.
Mph should be 116-118.
80-120 will be interesting. Will need to wait for private buyer times for true indication.
The benefit the LSA has George is the intercooler and a 1.2l advantage.
The boss on the other hand as you know has a far more advanced forged core engine. From the more efficient heads, to cam phasing and frankly pure strength. (The LSA is no LS9)
The comparisons and pub arguments will flow from both camps. I'm just keen to see what it will do in a VF as what the engine can do is already widely known. The caddys will do ~11.6 @121 with a tune and overdriving the blower
Mods will be interesting in comparing the two. Pending spend limits of course but going off USA trends. Our BOSS engine is still extremely capable.
For me I would prefer the LSA. But the only reason for that is I know the core engine much better. If I didn't know the LSx as well as I do and didnt do my own work like a lot of punters out there it would be a hard choice.
Bang for buck. The FPV cars will still obliterate any HSV though
As you mention, the key is the efficiency of the engines. A topic for when we are face to face.
Tune only comparisons is what I am interested in although I like my cars stock these days.
The biggest benefit lsa has over Miami is the cooler. This will allow greater consistency/repeatability and tune only potential.
Interesting times mate. Possibly the best time ever for the Australian performance sedan market.
Yep the cooler on the ford is where it gets murky. Add the cooler and the BOSS walks away from the LSA no question about it and already shown with the GT500 spanking the ZL1 stateside and our engine variant is better
As far as limited mods go like say where someone like you would draw the line I think a cooler is over the line and you would stop at a tune (hypothetically).
But in an LSA (correct me if I'm wrong) a tune and pulley change is under the line so to speak
Some people would consider a cooler change a 'limited' mod, look at the JDM crowd - stock means upgraded front mount, catback and boost tee!
You can compare the GT and HSV until the cows come home, but unfortunately the FPV seems to be a much slower seller than anything with a HSV badge, perhaps to the point of near irrelevance?
Point of irrelevance is a little harsh considering it would have been part of the reason we are even talking about the lsa GTS.
Anyway, let's not drag this off topic.

Thanks for the comments. It is going to be a tough choice as they are so different. I think buyers are expecting a little more sophistication now too (or maybe it's just me getting older!). The little AMG still looks good to me but I doubt it will have the 'drama' and road presence of the big blown GTS. It's sort of whether to decide with the heart or the head. Hmm.
Your last sentence is of course, unfortunately, and I do say unfortunately, 100% correct,...but it is a FACT, that the Falcon IS....almost irrelevant.
To say that FPV cars "obliterate" any HSV product on a "bang for buck" basis...... is also incorrect.
Cheers, Pickles.
Depends on your definition of bang for buck.
For me it is exactly that. Bang = grunt, torque, midrange punch, tyre turning pull etc. buck = well, how much of bang can I get for as little dollar.
According to my definition, it certainly does. And then some.
Falcon irrelevant. Dumb statement on so many levels. Commodore needs falcon. Holden needs falcon. Segment needs falcon. Market needs falcon. Local manufacturing needs falcon. Etc etc.
I do see what you are saying Martin and unfortunately (like you said) you may be right. Unfortunately it looks like it is more than just the falcon but also the segment that is becoming irrelevant.
The enthusiasts need to support the gen f (did I mention I think it a stupid name). We need to so we can continue the debate between ford and Holden, FPV and HSV, etc. not to mention local manufacturing and everything that comes with it.
I have taken it off track and I apologise.
